AMEN!!!!! I am applauding you. Thank you for your service. My husband gave twenty-three years to the Army. Our oldes son is on his twenty-fourth year. At one time I had a husband, a son and a brother-in-law in Afghstan at the same time. I agree these people are wrong and if they don't like the US then leave and go to a country they do like.

I thank you for your service! I thank you for your obvious respect for OUR flag and what it represents.
There was a time in the past when we all, or most of us, would give it respect.
There are many ways to protest; rioting, looting, burning etc isn't protesting.
I wrote a piece and posted it here on fan story, and would like your read. It's called "Old Glory, New Mission."
We are not a perfect country, but we try to be. All these professional athletes who kneel during the Anthem, should think twice about how lucky they are. If they want to leave the country, call me, and I will help them pack.
Amazing what your words inspired!
I pray more people will get the message.
I was called out for the '60's riots in Boston.
Bless you - stay safe, thanks again for your service and your post.

You did an excellent job of telling a story that should be on the minds of every American and the respect our flag should have. For many servicemen died or disabled defending it. You did a great service writing it, and I thank you for the service you gave for our country.

The attention to detail makes this little story come alive. We see the idolation of the star building to a peak as he teases his fans by wriggling his toes over the wet cement in front of Groman's theatre. We see the fans totally carried away by their need to associate with someone famous. It raises alot of questions about fame, about behavior in society, about what it really means to be a maverick in society. in many ways, shoving the star to the ground is just another form of raising your profile. It also raises questions about freedom. I've come to feel that here in the west our idea of freedom and individual liberty is starting to reach into extremes. Freedom is not an end in and of itself. It's not freedom, but what you do with it that counts. estory

I loved your story. It made my heart glad to read something that you may get some negative criticism on. I am not one of those people. You made a good point and I wish every grade school and high school kid could read it. It should be made mandatory. Thanks for sharing. Great job.

Hello Brett Matthew West,
MARVELOUS piece of Commentary and Philosophy Fiction having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting its theme.
This line is particularly noteworthy:
"Cavin shoved Guadalupe. He screamed, "Get your filthy feet off my flag!"
Picture enhances depth and beauty of the story.
Entertaining with a Moral! That's why it deserves to be honored with SIX STARS, but ...[ I know you are intelligent enough to understand its implication.]

Cavin, you are a hero! Enjoy the moment and live your life free.
I enjoyed to read. While I thanks you for your understanding of 'political correctness' ... it is a shame that it is politically incorrect to honor the flag of out country.
Enjoyed the read.

Powerful-- packs quite a punch (in the erstwhile idol's backside!)---notwithstanding its "political incorrectness" --wickedly clever description of him stunned with wet pants (not necessarily from spilled soda)! Cheers. LIZ

Dear author,
Excellent job!! Wonderful!!! My favorite part is,
A loud cheer rose from the fickle crowd. They had a new hero. Cavin's dad walked up to him. He placed his massive steel worker's arm around Cavin's shoulders.
Cavin changed his mind. If being a famous actor meant being what Guadalupe Figueroa turned out to be he did not want any part of that pie in the sky.
"I'm proud of you, Cavin," his father told him.
Cavin noticed a news camera honed in on them.
He heard his father say, "But, be prepared boy scout. I've got a feeling, like it or not, you're going to be the featured story on the six o'clock news tonight."...
Thank you for sharing!!!

I am a veteran of the US Air Force. I was an Air Policeman for four years. Served honorably for the entire time. I do not involve myself in politics, pledge my allegiance only to my God and Creator. Yet I would never disrespect the flag of any country, Most especially the flag of the country of my birth. Some people have no respect at all, nor for themselves or anyone else. These are not necessarily bad people, just people without a moral sense of accountability.
