Thank you Sally for this lovely picture and your words about your gift. How truly lovely that you were able to see what you love. I feel for you that your sight is not what it should be and you are in my prayers.

Hi Sally,
I was also in awe the first time I looked at the moon through a telescope. Here was this gigantic object orbiting the earth, and I could actually see it move. I'd have to adjust the ocular lens many times because it's not only the moon that's moving. The earth is moving as well. Have you seen Saturn yet? or the ET Cluster? They are also magnificent.
I have often wondered why God created so much out there in space. Perhaps He was enjoying himself so much that He just got carried away. Or, perhaps He needed to create so many stars and planets to keep the earth safe. Or more broadly, to keep our particular solar system safe. We'll find out someday.
We ask questions about God... why this? why that? ... but He has it all under control. Our ways are not His ways. We don't see things as clearly as He does. I am reminded of this song from long ago...

Thank you so much, dear Kimbob. No, I have only clear night. I hope to catch the upcoming full moon if we have clear skies tonight. The hurricanes stirred up moisture and rains have been abundant. It rained here all day yesterday. I'm pleased you enjoyed this and thanks so much for the link.

Sally, I love this beautiful essay true story about stargazing! The photo of the moon is beautiful. I've used telescopes before, but I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive one to keep.
I'm so glad you can see heavenly objects, Sally.
Blessings,
Good luck in the contest,
Cindy

Beautiful biopic (no pun intended) of a wonderful experience for your birthday! I wish I could see the photo, but either something in my phone or in the FanStory software is preventing me from seeing it.
What a loving gift from Jackson, knowing your passions, your fading eyesight and how deeply you would treasure such a gift. Your account is very well written and expressed.
The video is icing on the cake.

You're very welcome, dear Sally. And I did enjoy it, even the photo, which I was eventually able to see, because it showed up when I tapped your Portfolio. So gorgeous! Your Jackson is a generous giver. God bless you both. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I really enjoyed reading this post. Astronomy is fascinating. I am glad you have a telescope. My husband has one and we both enjoy it. A few years ago we took a vacation to West Texas and took a Star Gazing Tour. It was great.

A very well-written prose about your new gift that makes it possible for you to see the moon through the telescope must be a great experience. The photo is excellent and gives us a glimpse of what you see.

This reminded me of how God created the day light, the sun, then the lesser light. But when we are surrounded by darkness, God's nightlight reminds me of his tender care for us to be guided and liberated by it during our darkest moments. Lovely and resolute.

What a delightful surprise birthday present from your loving husband, Sal!

Thank you for showing us your first photo through the telescope. The details of this half moon, particularly of the craters at the illumination boundary, are fascinating. No doubt you'll have a lot of fun with this, both from just looking at what you couldn't see before and from taking more such pictures to keep and share with your grandkids (and us).

Yes, we all ought to consider the magnificence of our universe and the splendor of all God put in it, including our beautiful Earth and the great diversity of interdependent life on and in its land, in its waters, and in its air, made possible by the water cycle, the tidal cycles caused by the moon's exact mass and distance, and the photosynthesis process through which plants convert carbon dioxide to oxygen in order to build their structure. Any clear thinker can see that none of it is mere accident or coincidence; and every aspect of it, including every life, has a purpose within the whole.

Superb.

Thank you very much for this wonderful review and kindest comments... and shin stars! I'm glad you have the time to review and enjoy the view along with me. I think the ones that know God and walk with Him, enjoyed this the most. You don't have to be a scientist or an astronomy lover to appreciate these beautiful sights. I hope to become more proficient, but I will take one day at a time. Sending you my best today as always,
    Sal :))
