Lisa my friend, you are one extraordianry gifted writer; I just couldn't stop laughing and failed to explain the reason to my inquisitive wife; congratulations, I am sure you won this 'hands-down'. A real treat my friend, thank you.

What a lark! All I could think of is Patsy Cline's big country hit of decades past called "I Fall to Pieces"!!! I don't think THIS is what the songwriter had in mind--but then you never know when such calamitous occurrences can tickle the muse! I hadn't been on line and so was unable to vote and contribute to your win...but safe to say based on my huge laughter I'm certain you deserved the accolade!--Karenina

Thanks for this terrific review. We both started falling to pieces then people started falling about laughing.

Humor is the great equalizer! It could have been a tragedy without both of you seeing it "sunny side up"!!!!--Karenina

Oh, Lisa, yer a nut! I actually laughed out loud when I read this line,
"I laughed so convulsively I got hiccups and peed myself." After all the other things that domino'd, I couldn't help it. There's no way this could be a true story, but my goodness... you should be writing script for a comedy show. There was a good one on a "Frasier" episode, the one where Niles takes off his pants to iron them, and one thing leads to another... tragically!

The other thing your story reminded me of is that 1992 movie "Death Becomes Her", starring Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep. The closing scene is hysterical, like your story!

Your story is excellent, Lisa. I loved it from start to finish. Good Luck in the contest!

This is fabulously funny! I'm laughing my head off, while feeling all of the feelings of those involved at the same time! The thing that is most intriguing is, that the story is utterly believable while being unbelievable. Like stuff movies are made of. "It's NOT Amore!" Starring Richard Gere and Carole Burnett!
Well done! Made my day!
Hope your weekend is peachy :)

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO SIT AT HER COMPUTER AND LAUGH HYSTERICALLY? Well I did, that was really crazy. I take it you are not a young chick, I got my false teeth at 65, but some get them much younger. Enough false teeth talk. I have had the pee in my pants happen. It was a surprise 60th birthday party, and yes I was surprised and yes I peed my pants in front of about 30 people. Thinking back I lost my embarrassment throttle when I had my 3 children.

I got my "falsies" when I was 63 (4 years ago). Thanks for your brilliant review and your tales of personal embarrassment and surprise.

Very nice. I found myself laughing throughout, although to be serious I think the slapstick went on a bit too far. Still, all in all, a well written story. You have me vote.

Thanks for your review. The story just took off when i was writing it... i think part of the ridiculous aspect is that it is SO over the top. You are right though, sometimes "less is more".

This was a disaster of the highest caliber. I don't know how this could have gotten any worse. Anything good happening no matter how small would have helped this situation. Thanks for sharing this humorous and well written work. Well done!

The good thing was that I was able to eat my dinner without chewing - it was soft spaghetti. Thanks for reviewing!

You definitely have the knack of comedy. I kept laughing as I watched all this going down in my mind's eye. You've found your niche in life. Go for it!

It's because ridiculous things keep happening to me, such as my teeth breaking, and I'd rather laugh than cry, even if i choke while doing it.
    Thanks very much for reviewing.

It would be hard to top this one. I'm glad some of the story was the life of its own. This might be a episode in a slapstick comedy but odds of all this in real would be bizarre, It scares to know that dentures can break half into. That would be enough to send me into hiding. LOL

Thanks for your review. I sure felt like running into the night, but was too embarrassed to leave, thinking that might draw more attention to myself even more, leaving without eating. The meal arrived and as it was spaghetti, I could eat it without chewing.

Oh my goodness, Lisa May. I can see this as an episode of "I Love Lucy" or any other slapstick comedy. It's interesting that it started with a real story, but I'm happy, for your sake, that the rest came straight from your imagination.

You used just the right amount of detail to tell your story. Good slapstick is fast-paced, and extraneous detail would merely have slowed this down.

I enjoyed the italicized side comments and your "trademarked" wordplay, like the mouth allusions ("lick," "chew," "teeth") in your second paragraph and the alliteration ("woeful welter of wrinkles") further down.

Overall it was a very enjoyable story, and I hope you do well in the contest.

You're very welcome. You really ought to write for television, Lisa May. You're a natural.
