I enjoyed your terrific storytelling in this tale, Willie... a sad tale of heroic sacrifice. I don't know much about Western cowboy life and rodeos but am learning more through your writing... obviously a genre you are skilled in through knowledge.

I absolutely love folk history passed from person to person and generation through poetry, song and art. These are collections that are well-worth preserving and you bet a rodeo clown was no easy job, but then bull riding is uber dangerous.

Great job Willie and I hope you write many more of these if you haven't already.

This Smokey clown was a fun entertainer the kids have had. Nice history of the clown. It was fun reading this story. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thanks for sharing!

Your excellent story is very entertainingly and movingly told, through the use of specific details. The message conveyed is uplifting, that the main character was a hero who died trying to save a life.

What a lovely poem written - as I was reading it I thought it might be true and I see it is. It is a very dangerous job - I have a hard time watching bull riding and the clowns. "There's many stories..." I'm sure it would be fun hearing the all.

This should have been the tell a story poem site contest. You did a great job with your telling of this rodeo clown in verse. I enjoyed reading it. Your lines flow smoothly with great rhymes and detail that adds to the imagery. I could see everything as I read.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This poem has the making of a folk song. I haven't been able to attend a rodeo in years, but I used to love going to them. My mother was born and raised in Wyoming, too. This tells the story from beginning to end in rhymed stanzas abcb defe etc. I only saw extremely tiny areas to improve on:
He charged the injured cowboy,
Smokey tried to turn him away.
I would use a semi-colon after cowboy

The bull tossed Smokey in the air
And some where up there he died.
I would put a comma after air and remove the space between some and where since it really is a compound word/noun

There are all kinds of heroes in our world, that we'll never know about. If you hadn't gone into that place, we wouldn't know about "Smokey" who to those people in that town, was a hero. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ralf for everything. You couldn't say anything bad about Smokey in that town.

Ironically I just covered the PA High School Rodeo Associaton's first rodeo of the season on Saturday. Your poem rhymed, made sense and was entertaining. It could easily have been a contest entry. Very nice job.

Thank you, Earl. I'm surprised some jerks didn't cancel the rodeo
because of the virus. I'm beginning to wonder about the virus and rioting happening together so close to the Nov. vote. To me, something smells. Thanks, my friend, for the great six star review.

Wow -- what a wonderful tribute Smokey and all the rodeo clowns... don't think folks realize just how dangerous their jobs really are... ;) :) Great rhyme scheme for 'tale tellin', sir! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette
