Okay...I know people's fears aren't something you should laugh over...but I might have let out a little chuckle when you were talking about sharks. You did such a good job explaining your past fear in a humorless way I couldn't help it! I don't really have a fear of sharks, but I can understand yours. As well as your fear of blanking, forgetting, etc. The way you write is very enjoyable and easy to read. Great piece, and great luck in the contest!

LOL. I am SO glad I never saw "Jaws" until around age 17 or 18. I think you did a great job telling this in a story-telling tone. And a jellyfish encounter, too!
This is a teeny tiny suggestion, but instead of let go the rope, I would say: let go of the rope.

Yeah, being from Louisiana, gotta say, my fear was the lakes because of the ..... Gators!! Didn't do much swimming there and learned to ski 'off the pier' and coast nearly onto shore when I was done - lol!! ;) A great offering for this contest - good luck! ;)

Yeah, being from Louisiana, gotta say, my fear was the lakes because of the ..... Gators!! Didn't do much swimming there and learned to ski 'off the pier' and coast nearly onto shore when I was done - lol!! ;) A great offering for this contest - good luck! ;)

well, Miss dolly, they may have a right to live, but I do not like them. Seems every summer somebody gets attacked by one.
I fear falling over, too. My physical therapist is working on my "core" and I keep trying to stand with one foot right in front of the other and turn my head side to side. very hard - for me. Can you do it?
