The task for heroes ... but the tools of a beggar ...

I loved the reminiscing... and the memories that your reminiscing brought back to my mind.

Enjoyed!!

Glad you enjoyed it. Our parents knew how to keep us out of their hair while they set up camp. We did not catch on until we were old enough to actually fish for real. Thanks for your review.

"A Fishy Tale", is an extremely well-written and entertaining piece. Penned with craft and skill, this talented poet has told it as it is. To me, this is definitely a six. I look forward to seeing your next post.

This poem, A Fishy Tale, is a neat recollection of good times in youth when we could be 'on our own' trying to do big things with little idea of how. Fun, growth, exhilaration. Nice poem.

Thank you for reviewing this entry. Our parents knew what they were doing to keep us busy back then. We have to keep such a closer watch on our children these days. Times have changed, indeed.

Yes, those were the golden days indeed; lovely story my friend, creating vivid imagery phrased eloquently in excellent rhymes; thanks for sharing.

The most important part for me is how much of a visual you gave me. It was a cute scene. I can see the disappointed faces, and I could see the smirk on the parents face

Looks like they were gone fishing. I like the relationship between the father and son. It feels like a story. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. I like it. Very good. Thanks for sharing!

A Fishy Tale
by AnnieDawn

Hello, Annie,

Great entry for the Share A Story In A Poem contest. It's an endearing tale. I don't know how you could fish with a safety pin and string...lol maybe your parents just wanted you kids out of their hair for a bit.

Great job, you told it well. Good luck in the contest.

Gypsy

I found the author's words to be sweet, descriptive and creative. Thank
you for the author's notes as it sounded like a safe and fun place. The
poem flows and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments
these words.

Times have changed far too much. That was a lovely poem of a time when kids could be kids and enjoy themselves. It's not like that now. I think the mums and dads knew they wouldn't be getting any fish that day, what they did get, was peace and quiet! Lol. Well done, this was a lovely story in a poem. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

There is lots of great imagery written into this poem, Annie. I liked this stanza in particular:

"Great hours of play but we in wet clothes clad
Trudged back to camp with eyes downcast and sad.
For string and safety pins were all we had.
Smiling they hugged us and said "That's too bad."

Brilliant job recalling a wonderful memory. : ) Bob

They were so clever. They sent us out knowing we would eat the crackers, have our stomaches full for play to keep us busy for a long time. Thanks so much for reviewing. As children we were blessed with many happy times.
