"Now the hurtful yesterdays are gone and I'm home. Of course there are times that demons return to my mind; but I pull them out and toss 'em back to hell from which they came." What a great way to describe the happening.
Enjoyed the read.

What a beautiful, beautiful final chapter. I am new here but with the supporting information and your clear writing it was easy to understand the story. It is beautiful. I also enjoyed, J F Kennedy's speech and Dolly Parton's song.

Chapter 33 is solemn and a great wrap-up of your novel. You tied up all the loose ends in a dignified manner. I felt for the family after losing Grandma then a week later Grandpa. I liked knowing about what the twins were doing as they grew to adults. Losing Cathy was so sad. Bill's poem is exceptional.

Tootie. Beautiful ending to a great story. Well written and even at the end continued to move me on from paragraph to paragraph. I am very impressed now with what I read and even though historical romance isn't normally high on my list. I may have to buy it anyway and read it through from the beginning. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Hi Steven, Please forgive the late response due to a move (no fun!). We're so glad you enjoyed this last chapter. Thank you so much for reading it, and for your awesome review! If you do buy the book (or ebook), please let us know what you think. We did post all the chapters here on FanStory, but the previous chapters were edited quite a bit afterwards as part of the publishing process. We currently are working on our next book (17 chapters written) and hope to post the first chapter here soon. Wishing you an awesome upcoming weekend. Take care and God Bless.

WOW! What an awesome, though at times poignant and tear-jerker, ending, Bill and Cathy. Although all the previous chapters were exceptional, chapter 33 is stellar. The way all the 'pieces' come together makes its so realistic and memorable.
The beginning sets the tone for the remainder of the chapter as Bill is at the willow tree reminiscing about the journey he and Cathy took together. I could see him alone in his thoughts about what had transpired as he is "Lookin' Back."
The letter from Colonel Rose he shared with Cathy was super. The inclusion of Cathy saying 'no longer have to be in love long distance' was a great way to tie the title into the completed novel.
The imagery of the wedding was fantastic. Every detail added to the joyous occasion. I love the way the meadow was described, the way Grandma arranged for the delicious southern style food after the ceremony and made Cathy's wedding dress, and the description of Cathy's dress and what Bill was wearing. I love the way they held hands and said "HURRAH." The 'jumping of the broom' after that part was a great detail. I have read about how that was part of many southern weddings. I could see Cathy and Bill doing that.
As their life moved forward, the loss of Grandma then Grandpa was so moving. I believe after Grandma died that Grandpa died of a broken heart. They were so much a part of the family. It brought tears to my eyes. I was so relieved that Angel thrived with the love that surrounded her. The update about the twins was great. Of course, Billy would follow in his father's footsteps! What Cathy feared about Bill passing first was such a tear-jerker in itself. Then to find out she died first--how sad. Well, sad isn't the word for it. Although everything was in God's hands, it was tragic.
The image of Bill standing at her grave reciting his beautiful poem written months ago is phenomenal. What an outstanding way to end this EXCEPTIONAL novel.
The historical videos were perfect to include. I'm so proud of both of you--Cathy and Bill. Even as I reread this chapter, I get the same feelings with tears although I know what has happened. That is a mark of how much this chapter (plus the whole novel) touched my heart. As the song goes "I Did It My Way,' I believe, Cathy and Bill, you did it your way and what a way it was in all respects!
CONGRATULATIONS on a job well-done!
Respectfully, Jan

As I read through this I'm reminded of a couple of Louis Lamour books, Dark Canyon especially. He takes the last chapter and gives a wrap up and brings it up to present day and what the kids had done. Congratulations again on getting published and keep writing.
