This is a timely poem. I hope you live in an area where you have them visit by the tens. The fact you chose this as your subject tells me you know of them. It is sad to me that there are many readers who will only know of them. I remember catching them &putting them comfortably into jars with nail-holes in the lid. I now have them all over my property and sadly, some come to visit my bedroom voluntarily and I have to try to relocate them. I am voting for this.

Thanks so much for the read and the wonderful comments. I too have fond memories of catching the little guys and putting them in jars. Unfortunately, have seen very few in the past few years.

This is a very nice poem. It reminds me of my childhood, when I caught lightning bugs or fireflies. I still see them outside at night flying about and glowing. You painted a lovely and cozy picture in my mind. Your words captured the essence of warm, summer evenings and childlike fun.

Some 60 years ago, I can remember as a child, discovering the wonders of fire flies. The magic of their tiny little flashlights was mesmerizing. Thank you for bringing back a pleasant memory in your poem. Best wishes and good luck in the contest.
