that is a story that is both tender and sad. So terribly sad for your father (and for your family) and a lovely story about George, the compassionate cat.
Thank you for sharing it and best wishes.

Dear Friend, thank you for your review and the five stars. Yes, Dad's story is a sad one. He had some really good ideas to earn honest money, but the least little thing would upset him and then there would be a flaming row and the latest scheme would end up down on the woodheap or somewhere else final and "over with".
George's story was rather happier with him sleeping on the kid's beds at night and being fed out on the tank stand instead of having to take his chances with the other hungry moggies by the well pump. cheers ???/

what is a moggie? and thanks for the cheers, but why the question marks?
just curious, not being critical.

Sorry, Moggie is a colloquial term for cat.The question marks are me being cute about with holding names. cheers Cass

"They were all fast asleep, warm and snug, cuddled into George the big ginger cat." Our cat would have been warm and snug- but not for the same reasons!
I believe you have meet the requirements: Write a short story (100-500 words). The story must include a child's perspective of an object or situation.
Best of luck in the "Through the eyes of a child" writing contest.

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. George was
a unique creature, with traits of such tenderness and selflessness it would amaze another who wasn't there to witness for themselves. Thanks again for your time and effort .???/

I found your story very interesting and enjoyable. I love to hear about other people's life experiences. George sounds like he was a wonderful, loving, and considerate cat. I used to have a very sweet cat named Smokey. You shared vivid descriptions and your words drew me in emotionally.
I'm sorry to hear about your father's businesses not working out so well. I felt sad when you said you cried because George had to go hungry some nights. I also felt touched by George letting the other cats have the food and when he kept the chickens warm by his side. What an extraordinary animal! Best wishes in the contest!

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Yes, the word for George was definitely "extraordinary". I have had some big cats in my (nearly) 80 years, but none were ever as big as George.
He was the sweetest natured cat I have ever known, and his name was spoken with great affection by older members of my family the last time we were together. cheers ????

I really enjoyed the story. I was worried that George, being so hungry, May have been tempted to eat
the chicks.
There are a couple of sentences that I believe were too long, commas used to separate more than one topic.
Well told.

You told this story very well and it is a wonderful story of a time past that many have not experienced. I am sorry at the end to know that your dad had such a hard time. As for George-What a good kitty!

Dear Friend, thank you for your review and the awesome SIX stars. George was a unique cat, who lived for years in an old metal tank like thing that looked like a large hip flask. It was his possie and no other cat ever dared to intrude. It was the only time I ever saw George get angry when a mother cat had her kittens in there. We cleaned it out and put Mrs. MummyPussy in another snug little cubby with her children, but George was highly indignant at such a liberty taken and refused to sleep there for days afterwards. He curled up on the end of my bed late at night until he calmed down
and returned to his own little place. cheers ????
