A lovely response to the contest's challenge. I would suggest the first word to be " it's " for the contraction of "it is" and not "its" which is the possessive. Yes, a mother's love is critical in the character development of the child.

I see, in this poem passion is equal in definition to love or compassion or even responsibility. I see how at times as in this case, it encompasses Nature's basic drive for mother and child.

This poem has spiritual overtones but it also could be understood in a more general sense although the accompanying image is religious. The message is conveyed clearly in a few syllables.
