That is so true. Sometimes you can get so much inspiration from an image or a thing you see. And other times you just get a piece and must mix it with another piece from something else to get what you were trying to write all along.

Thank you so much for your understanding review. It takes a poet to know a poet.

Awww, I enjoyed so much the whimsical imagery and the form of this poem.
I can't believe what you actually did with the form! Creating the shape of a butterfly path with your line breaks - although normally it would be a set of regular quatrains with ABBA rhyme! That on it's own a wonderful feat!
But on the top of that you added such a wonderful set of dreamlike metaphors. I LOVE that you called it pilgrimage with a butterfly along the way!
Meanwhile you also explored the mechanics of writing as well!
Also, I LOVED the mix of lofty and humble ending:
"masterpiece whose grace and wisdom verge
on genius.
Or it may be just a verse."
Thank you for joining the contest and sharing this masterpiece with us!

What a great portrayal of the creative process -indeed the imagery of the butterfly is so apt- emerging from a cocoon - creativity and its pursuits takes us along many varied paths

We all have our way of writing poetry, sometimes it wakes you up at night and you have scramble for a pencil before the thoughts leave you. Poetry is good for the health. I like the way you've written this, as if you've let your mind take over and direct your hand. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Best of luck with this "How do you write your poetry" entry. "Just loose ends of things to fiddle with," certainly describes what many poets deal with, at least for me. Have a wonderful writing day. Best regards.

Hello my friend
This is a very interesting contest. I like your entry for the How do you write your poetry? contest. I like the metaphor you used. Nice presentation too. I don't like to write rhymed metered poems but I like to read them.
Good job.

A very well-written poem about your process and methods to start writing. We all have our rituals and preferences om how to start and what we say, but the end product is the proof of our great effort.

Well, for someone who usually 'counts' and 'concentrates' (guilty as charged over here, too!!), you've done an awesome job with this contest offering!! ;) I particularly enjoyed the formatting and how it affects the reading pauses and halts and 'think about before going forward'... makes for quite the impact. :) :) Thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;)
