This is a sad theme. I've seen several poems like this one recently. Either for the hungry or homeless or a variation. I guess it brings awareness on some level, and it certainly is useful to elicit an emotional response from the reader. In any writing it is a talented author who can arouse or convey emotions trough words.

I've said it before and countless others will likely say it again. "A picture paints a thousand words." It is definitely so here. You would have thought by now we would have eradicated hunger! Perhaps when we refuse to tolerate it we will. Thank you for sharing this.
