farmer prays for rain
for drought-stricken olive trees --
resilient souls
The Mediterranean countries are known for their olive trees, and also for the adversity farmers must confront. In a beautiful sunlit country there can exist great sorrow.

I grew up in Spain where we have a lot of olive trees.
Thank you very much

I think of Pablo Neruda and these words:
Puedo escribir los versos más tristes esta noche.

I love Pablo Neruda

Fine alliteration of R adds musicality to this fine addition for the book.
Good word economy, presentation and overall tone.
It's fun to read these all in a row.
Bravo.

This haiku, Pray for Rain, part of the ongoing renga, brings the climate to an arid and hot locale where vines nee water to survive and produce.

It is sad to see such ruined crops of any kinds. Drought is horrible and we all need to pray for rain for them too.
Keep writing and stay healthy

This follows smooth as silk from your previous 7/7 line! "Resilient souls" gives it such a powerful emotion beyond the mere action of said farmer...
I swear you must breathe these forms! I'm learning by reading...Karenina

A very well-written addition to the Renga multi-author book. It seems to make an interesting turn from where it started.

This sentiment hit home because we really need rain where I live. Surrounding areas got a downpour, but we just got a dribble. Now it's hurricane season and I worry about too much of a good thing. Sorry for the rant. This is nicely done - well chosen words. Hugs, Lou

With this haiku you were able to tie together the desert piece with the possibility of rain, leading into the rainbow piece following this. You fixed it! Now, you can relax and see what other creative pieces members have to offer. Well done.

I love the momentum this project got and how it engaged a wide range of poets! I was such a great idea! And it's starting to take an amazing shape.
This, too, is a well fitting addition.
You painted a very relatable concrete image - that portrays the struggle of the land and the people - with a very fitting satori line, which talks about both. I love the 'resilient souls' - the way it suggest persevering in hardship and also acknowledges the spirit of the tree. :)
