Apologizing

I'm sure what your perspective is here. I worked with abuse victims. This isthe beginning of the honeymoon stage in the abuse cycle. It begins with tension, then the explosion, and sometimes the abuser apologizes to get back in the game, to win the power back in case they were feeling they were losing their credibility with the victim. They can't afford to lose them so they will buy flowers, candy, any kind of gift to restore the faith. Now, all too often, there isnever an apology from the abuser, so the vicitm will apologize or feel forced to apologize to get the good feeling back. It's a very distorted cycle. Things are great for a little while and the victim almost forgets the blow-up. But, soon the tensions starts up & the cycle begins. This is where your poem has taken me. It will be interesting to see what the other readers write. I am voting for this one.

True words. It is hard to do but first comes the regret, that emotion is often overlooked but it is just as important to humanity as love or hate. Regret teaches and it can overcome pride. To know you're wrong and asked for forgiveness is a very human thing.
