Another beautiful presentation in every way. How do you make me adore this child so quickly and without a moment of conflict? I'm sorry-not-sorry to be so repetitive, but my gawd, but you are an immensely talented writer!! I have had the BEST time reading your pieces. Thank you.

Thanks Gretchen for reminding me how much fun it was as a child. We used to make swords out of wood, old tins and nails, '"lots of splinters" a cubby of old canvas, bricks and planks. It was fun, kids are so inventive. Well done, Gretchen, blessings, Roy

Your story was fun to read and think about. I enjoyed everything you mentioned. I like the 'matinee of clouds.' Your words are well-thought out and filled with great imagery. I could see everything you wrote just like I was there on the swing or tying the daisies into a chain. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

It is fun to remember the days of our childhood and the many games we played out in the summer sun.
Hide and seek, Kick the can. Jump rope, Hop scotch. Jax.
Todays children are being deprived of that except for savvy parents who take away the smart phones for most of the day, and send the children out to play. Well done Gretchen. Nancy:)

I had a rule. 2 hours outside in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Fresh air was their best friend. Mine, too. Lol. Thanks for the awesome review. Gretchen

I honestly believe today's children don't enjoy those adventures we had. They are too busy with technology and inside. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post. I have a feeling we're in about the same age range.

What lovely images you've given the reader in this little story. The changing of the shadows, and matinee of passing clouds, are both very evocative.
Just one point - did you really mean to write 'pop cycle' or did you mean 'popsicle'?
Best wishes
Judy

Are popcorn and buttermilk cats or dogs? Wasn't it nice to have those carefree days of childhood, when you could be whatever you chose to be, like a princess. Very nice job.

It's always nice to share in people's nice memories; especially, those that remind us of those similar to our own. Like right now, when I wish I had a popsicle and a swing big enough to hold me. Thanks for sharing.

Nice. I'm just guessing--maybe hoping--that these are the kinds of childhood adventures Covid won't change. Little princesses will still wear dandelion crowns and cloud gaze. Thanks for posting.
