This is so sweet. Who could resist those hopeful eyes? Your syllable count is right on and you added effective rhyme with pick me and puppy. I always want to adopt the pet that's featured in the Sunday edition of our newspaper. I think "calls" might be more effective than "called." Best of luck. judi

You're very welcome. It's a small thing, but present tense adds to the impact. judi

This is an excellent 2-5-2 contest entry. The dog in your image is adorable. His eyes say it all. He looks very hopeful. Good Job with your poem. Good luck.

Wow! A sure winner in the contest. It's very difficult to write anything substantive with so few words allowed, but you achieved it with this adorable little poem. Add to that the lovely photo and you have an impeccable presentation. Best of luck in the contest. Have a wonderful day.

AH-H-H doesn't this picture make your heart just melt - and the words of the poem reinforce the idea of a puppy waiting impatiently for his forever home -thanks for sharing

Thanks much for your review. This picture is why I stay away from rescue shelters. Such a doggie would be hard to resist.

This certainly speaks volumes both with its words and with the illustration you chose. Who could resist this puppy? This is very nicely done. I give you five stars.

It would be very difficult not to "pick" and take home that puppy in the picture. That is why I do not get close to our town's humane society. I would not come home empty-handed. Will the poet? Rodk

Feel the same way you do. But for now we are sticking to our cement goose. Thanks for the read and the review.

This is a solid poem, I like the taletelling, clear and expressive, with the photo and I think the expression is good without the photo; well said, well done; enjoyed the read; thank you for sharing this and wish you good luck in the Contest. Keep writing. ALCREATOR
