You have made effective use of your eleven syllables to convey a powerful message about the fleeting nature of time, memories, and dreams. Your analogy is well-conceived and stated.

You did a great job with your contest entry, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading it. The image is perfect for your well-chosen words which are right in syllable count per line. I like the change in color of font on the last line to a dimmer color. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

This 3-5-3, Evanescence, has the correct formatting and points to the fading of what we thought would always be our utmost memories of life's best moments.

I admired your mysterious and parallel picture selection. Your "shadows" simile and a bit of alliteration are effective as well. Best wishes in the 3-5-3 contest. Cheers- Joan

True, some memories do fade. However, others are ingrained in our hearts and in our minds to the degree that I believe we will take them to our grave. Perhaps it is best if we let memories fade, but what do we do if we can't let them go? Best wishes.

WOW- How true that is that 'mem'ries fade'- perhaps we sometimes forget this fact -it's a blessing, probably on the one hand so we can let go of the unpleasant one - well said - wish I had 6 left !

Someone opined the other day in a poem, that memories don't come in a whole, complete view, but rather comes in snatches, which is true. A beau written lune poetry, well done, blessings, Roy

An interesting 3-5-3 with an arresting title "Evanescense." It made me go more into the words of the little poem. It must have been something that happened in my husband's poor brain when he suffered from Alzheimer's Disease.
I have the opposite experience: my memories seem to come back to me more often now that my years are growing, and I see the shadows more as soft, and mellow, taking the piercing light and rough edges away.
Your poem is beautiful! Very well done.
