Wow! What beautiful imagery! Your words fit the picture and yes, memory is like shadows - but sometimes emotional ones are "piercing." So happy you won!! Congratulations!!

Thanx so much, Helen -- short ones I have time for... you can write them in your head as you pack/sort/clean and write em down when you have a chance - lol!! ;) :) Take care! ;) Yvette
P.S. Sorry, I'm soooooo far behind on everything as we are trying to 'downsize' over here. Just about finished going through the whole house and deciding what to donate and what to put in storage so that the house 'presents' as attractive and roomy - lol! Now I'm slogging (REALLY slow going - ugh!) through room by room and cleaning from floor to ceiling and in-between... forgot how much I HATE moving because you get the house the way you would like it to 'look' and then sell it! :) :)

Memories certainly do get 'dim at dusk' at the dusk of our lives, when life seems but a shadow of what it once was. Another lovely little poem, Yvette and again, congrats on the contest win.
cheers,
valda

Hi Yvette,
So true dear, with a hauntingly perfect pic that peaks through the
senses simultaneously! Great reminder how truly significant our
memories are and how we literally often cannot escape them, as
they do indeed, so often filter through the shadows!
thanks for sharing, and hope you are taking a well deserved breather.
You do so much so well, so often, so many ways, times and places...
whew!!! am sure a breather is well deserved too. Take care of You!
Love, blessings, Ronni

Thank you so much for stopping in for the fun review, Lady Ronni - you always know how to make me smile! ;) :) I apologize for the delay as we are readying our house to sell (trying to 'downsize' but oh my gosh, what a task!!). May you have a wonderful remainder of the week, my Beautiful Friend out West! ;) Yvette

You have used an excellent simile. Very few seem to use similes for fear they would sound too cliche' or schmaltzy. Your simile is the poem. I sense a metaphor here too along with personification. You have used several strong literary techniques. Your alliteration helps create the tone and the s's effect the quiet of the night. Or it could give us the sense of deflating which happens to us when we cannot recall some situation or person. Well planned out.

This is a great poem entry for the 3-5-3 writing prompt. This is an thoughtful true poem and should do well in the contest. Good luck!

Oh, the ambiance of this little gem is dramatic, and quite evocative. The comparison of shadows dimming to memories fading is very effective. Best of luck in the contest!

Hello dear Yvette,
Oh...this offering makes me sad...I immediately thought of my mother and how she struggled at the end of her life - "dim at dusk" - with her memory. Long term was always "spot on," but not her short term.
You say so much in such few words...

Best Wishes!

Hello my friend

Nice entry for the
Write a 3-5-3 writing prompt contest. Good syllable count and connection between lines. The presentation is beautiful too. The imagery and metaphor is lovely.
