Absolutely... a wonderful capture of current times. Fear, and more importantly the fear of fear itself has given birth to many horrendous moments. We now find ourselves living in times where sadly our individual & collective fears are grounded in reality, becoming somewhat of a vicious cycle.

The nineteen hundreds had the roaring twenties. Doesn't look like we'll have the same luck with this decade in the 2020s, at least not the way it is beginning. It is certainly a stressful one.

Not a snowball's chance, I'm afraid... sad thing? We have politics to thank for it. Ugh! Thanx for the review, W.J. - hope the weekend goes well! ;) Yvette

Congrats in winning the contest, as usual you got the best combination of emotions in a very limited space -
fears
add fuel to this year's
tears
Have a lovely day;)

Gee, thanx, Don - LOL!! ;) :) Trying really hard to find my muses these days as some personal things have them 'hiding', but I guess this was one where I found enough sunshine to write a shortie... (winks and grins). Thanx for your review, sir, and for always putting a smile on my face -- you are so gifted at that!! :) :) Take good care of you! ;) Yvette

This 1-6-1, Twenty Twenty, has the correct syllable set up and notes this year as the worst since 2001 and the events of 9-11.

A very nice contest entry, the technical are correct (of course 'fuel' is two syllables!), your rhyme is good and you've created a nice poem in just a few words. Well done!
Best of luck in the contest and many blessings,
Deb

I agree with your statement the tears your'e speaking about referring to all of the people who have died from this insidious Corona virus and the ongoing violent riots that have occurred since George Floyd died. The fears being that we as a nation or a world will never recover from these events. Glad that you were able to articulate your anxieties about this weird year we've had with your poetry. Well done.

This is a strong truthful poem entry for the 1-6-1 writing prompt. It should do well in the contest. I wish you the very best of luck!

I remember reading an article about the year of the rat, and thinking oh-oh and it seems that was right. Dramatic and well thought out 1-6-1 poem Yvette about this 2020 year. Hopefully by the end of it we will find some cheers.
