Aaaaaw, the son's the proxy? Could have been a purposeful 'mess up' to get himself out from under dad's shadow.... Thanx for sharing, Liz! ;) Yvette

I appreciate your compliments and reviews--feel free to read for a chuckle rather than bothering to type three lines for two cents. Cheers. LIZ

It doesn't do any good to get your thrills through what someone else is doing, because you could be disappointed. Your idols can fail you. A good point to consider that vicarious dreams can disappoint. Excellent presentation, and best of luck in the contest. judi

There are many more unfulfilled dreams than the filled variety, but thankfully, there comes a time when a glass of tea and a porch swing can let us look back and only remember what suits us best. Thanks for sharing.

Wise words as always, Ric. I finally found what suits me best after taking up residence in Story Land (per my piece HOME SWEET HOME AT LAST, should you care to further peruse my profile). Cheers. LIZ

A very true presentation. How many times are these baseball players disappointed? I imagine before each game they are picturing a successful thwack, which is a "Home Run." Alas! Nice one.

Thank you Ralf. I'd been musing on my mother's frustrated dreams and wrote a poem (to be released next contest), then decided to do a father/son counterpart. Cheers. LIZ

Hmm! You're daring - you are making great use of the title AND the description line to give me the full picture here. Yes, it's rather sad when parents try to live through their kids in sports teams. Thankfully, my son-in-law loves coaching. My granddaughter loves pitching. And per your picture, my hubby says, "Go Mets!"

Indeed, Helen--It is so important to use the title/description and footnote to supplement the meager word allotment. (I was reading yours while you were reading mine!) Cheers. LIZ
