Aiona,
This tells of the horrors of discrimination and what it does to the souls and lives of its victiims. It brings in the riots and protests and hopefully what has happened won't die down and change will continue to happen.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

The last part is the truest of all, how soon everything is forgotten until one day someone says 'Do you remember?' But by then the damage is done again. Nicely stated and rhymed

Thanks, Barb. I tried to make it rhyme to tone down the anger. I guess it worked. Now it's just a sad poem. I'm doing a Wilderness Awareness online class, and something Dan Corcoran our instructor says I found pretty profound. He said "optimism" is a underrated survival skill that needs practice, like any other survival skill. I think that's why prayer is so important. I think that will be my next poem. A prayer.

Congratulations on this meaningful piece. To be honest I don't fully understand it, but was still able to appreciate it. Stay healthy and safe during this pandemic! Good luck with the competition!

Your poem is thought-provoking - recalling the Manson murders and I'm not sure if you are tying that to the mob mentality of recent news. Hope they will deeply "look in the mirror" and consider their true motives.

Yeah, I don't know HOW I got to reading about Charles Manson. I sometimes click links online, and it sort of leads me down a rabbit hole. Ugh! I had to write a poem to get that out of my head.
