This happens often. I have seen people go to their grave loving someone who left them. Then before and after their death, that person who left shows up. It is so sad to watch. Time went by without reuniting. So many people have gone to their graves, still in love with someone they could not live with or trust. Thank you for sharing.

Feeling guilty is common, but that does not change the fate, consequence is the fruition of action, and it cannot be changed, as you sow so you will reap, suffer the consequence for mistakes done; well said, well done, post god speed more, share post not 4 self-joy-pride but 4 God and readers worldwide Alcreator Litt Dear (DR)

You have used your imposed words to good effect to create a convincing story, rich in emotion and that seemed unforced. Good luck in the contest Kate xx

This is an excellent poem. Perfect picture, perfect rhyming, perfect flow due to an excellent syllable count and a beautiful poetic story. Very very lovely poem. Best of luck in the contest.

Well done, I really like this poem. It tells a sad story very well and it rhymes nicely It's easy to read and the and the emotions are ever-present.
Of course, he would feel guilty but it really is not his fault. He could not remain with her if his feelings changed, After all, it is his life too.
Sometimes things just happen in this life and even if you admire and respect someone you can't picture them in your life forever,
I'm sure she would have understood given time

We cannot blame ourselves for actions beyond our control, yet that is exactly what the heart does sometimes... A wonderful and heartbreaking interpretation of the 'word challenge' this time! ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

Oh, this tragic love story is very well told AND uses the prescribed words naturally. We never learn why he left her, but that's no matter. We understand the guilt he feels when he finds her in her grave. What makes this a notch above most entries, is the MORAL stated in your final lines. Rod

Wow. This poem really hits home with me. I had a situation where I lost a loved one and felt like it was my fault. He had been fighting before his accident. This poem almost brought me to tears. Exceptional poem! Best of luck in your contest!

Cruel fate it was, but it provided a beautiful lost-love poem with the acquired words for the contest. A good entry! "A spirit free from earthly bounds, yet still, her love lives on" Beautiful line!

Good luck in the contest!

My favorite part was, "There was a stillness in the air,
the scent of dying flowers.
A place that has no need for time,
no seconds, minutes, hours.
He didn't cause the accident,
but still, he feels regret.
She never would have lost control,
had she not been upset.", because of how you described the graveyard!

The Lord led me this verse after I read this,

Psalm 103:12
New International Version
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
