Delighted to see you won the contest. Of course, many of us agree with your sentiments. You said so much in so few words. Your illustration was a perfect match to your poem.

Thanks again for reading another one of my posts and for the very nice review.
I was in the National Guard and called out for the riots in Boston years ago. I can honestly support protesting, but not what it turned into. It is hard to look at the looting and burning without thinking about what that meant to the owners.
We overreacted to the Pandemic, and THEY overreacted to Floyd's killing. Enough said - sorry to express my opinions.
    THANKS again,
    Dick

Thanks again Roof. What does the roof35 stand for?
reply by roof35 on 10-Jun-2020
Nothing really. My married name is Judy Roofner. I shortened it to Roof to make it easy and I don't know where the 35 came from--probably something on my mind the day I typed it. I usually use 7s as my son was born 7/7/77.

Wow! What a lucky son. I hope he manages to go to the casino, or buy a ticket on his birthday. Thanks for sharing the origin of roof35, but if you don't mind, I would like to acknowledge any future review with Judy, if that is okay?
Do you have a granddaughter? I wrote a Teddy Bear's Promise, and I have not posted it here. I would like to send it to you.
I wrote it for my granddaughter when we gave her a 5' teddy bear. When she read it out loud, she tried to read it between the tears.
If only my other works could bring that kind of emotion.
    Best regards,
    Dick

I do have a beautiful granddaughter now 14. However, I have a grandson now 6. He still likes his stuffed animals and, of course, super heroes. Yes, you may call me Judy.

    Judy,
Here is a pasted copy of the promise.

I?ve never had a name, but I promise to love the name you give me.

Some of your friends will come and go, but I promise to be your best friend, for as long as you will have me.

I will never desert you, but if you want me to leave, I promise I will go without any complaints.

I promise to be there to listen, when you need someone to talk to.

I promise to listen to your most-guarded secrets.

I promise to never tell anyone what you told me.

I promise to greet you with a smile when you come into the room.

I also promise to never upset you.

If you ever need to let the tears flow, I promise to be there to catch them.

When you are cold, I will do my best to warm you, and keep you warm.

If you need a hug, or need to hug someone, I will always be there.

If no one will dance with you, I promise to be your partner.

I promise to keep my eyes open at night, so you can close yours.

I promise to watch you grow.

I can?t say I love you, but if you look into my eyes, I promise they will tell you how much I do.

When you find that special someone in your life, I promise not to be jealous.

    WHY?

Because that is what best friends do!

All elements here. Relevant, current political topic. Empathy from readers. Enough already folks...Good color choice! Yellow is the color of wisdom. Could use a picture, but stands alone well without one.
Well done!

Thank you Lucy for taking the time to read my post and for the very nice review. I hate politics, but this was for a contest. I'm a believer of teamwork. Thanks for your specific comments about the details. As far as a picture goes, I had one, but the competition had a picture about Lennin, which wouldn't allow any new picture to be added (I reported it to those responsible to fix it).
    Thanks again,
    Dick

Dear Mystery Poet,

Oh, my - I totally agree with this simple but soooo smart post. It seems like these kinds of things would be kinda clear - but then, why can't folks GET IT??

There is never a right time to do the wrong stuff. Period.

Thanks!

Thank you Robyn for taking the time to read my post and for the very nice review.
My parents are rolling over in their graves right now. I guess at the time, I never really understood their teachings...I really do now.
    Thanks again,
