Exceptional

Exceptional use of language and mood that brings the
lines of poetic skill to a higher plane than I normally
read when your approach is utilized. Three cheers for
taking the time to read this gem to my wife, who normally
hears only my sixties take on life through somewhat
diminished angst. LOL. Great offering and though I am not
one who reviews very often for many reasons I will be
looking forward to your creative efforts for the pleasure
of your gift. tom

Oh, Tom! This is an exceptional review, and very kind to me, I feel so honored. Thank you very much. Feel free to read more of my poems; in my portfolio are all that I posted in FanStory since February this year. The six stars are so appreciated!

I do like the sentiments presented in this longer version. n our search for precious jewels - or truths - in the universe, we naturally keep those that are beautiful or relevant. But we must also be open to accepting the new and the strange. Perhaps it will out to be real and not fool's gold. Perhaps, it will bring peace - or peace of mind.

If only we knew the formula to make the world a happy place and all we can do is concentrate on making our own individual lives happy and maybe just maybe it will rub off on the rest of the world, food for thought here Marjon, love Dolly x

This poem's shape is a nice chalice (cup). To the wind's twelve quarters - I have never heard of this and googled it (compass and a famous book) Anyway, I love it. This poem makes me ponder that we are adrift, perhaps following a course, yet we are at the whim of all that is and it is up to us how we respond...

Margaret, thank you so much for this review. I confess that the wind's twelve quarters is a made-up construction. I first had the moon's twelve quarters (for all the twelve months a quarter...also a made-up, but maybe a more logical sounding one. Then I thought that the wind's twelve quarters sounded better, and I changed it. But it is pure poet's license, so don't break your mind over it.

You have done with this poem. It has a good flow to it, and it evokes very interesting images. I really like reading your work. Nicely done yet again.

A very well-written poem about finding peace and harmony in our lives are not always easy, as long as we think it lies in perfection we will search forever when we accept everything without demanding perfection we will find peace and harmony will come much easier.

Sandra, thanks for the review. And I agree with you, but you are talking about individual inner peace and harmony. I am also trying to find out (an impossible task, I know) for world-peace.

I like the symphony of your words. I could hear their soft and classy melody. For sure you write beautiful verses, dear writer. This is my favorite line: "The mart of power, the fount of will..."

Dear Marjon, I love the image of collecting the creations of our imagination like jewels in a jasper cup.
Who, but a poet would even think such thoughts . . . much less wish for more.
Wish for an unobtainable thing, like peace.

Our world must have evil, to have good, darkness to have light.

Even the key to all things, can not give you universal peace.

Marjon, this is excellent writing, but I need clarification as a reader what some things are:
What are the wind's 12 quarters?
What is our career, collectively, as people of the Earth.
Your poem is intriguing, like our search for nirvana and an elusive peace for all peoples.

Dear Cindy, such a lovely review! Thank you.
The wind's twelve quarters: my poetic translation of the moon's twelve quarters, or the twelve segments of the moon, or the twelve months the moon is appearing full, showing all its faces. I thought the "wind's 12 quarters sounded better here. But it needs explaining, I agree.
Our career: again somewhat poetical freedom, interpretation of a business career, a striving upward to reach a goal. Not individually, but as people of the Earth, together.

Yes, Marjon, I thought the world?s career was a wonderful way to describe what our purpose on Earth is. I like the wind?s 12 quarters explanation; it adds a kind of mystique to your poem. (Sometimes I don?t get things in poetry that are readily apparent to others). A lovely work. Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Cindy, poems do that sometimes. I do not think that is a bad thing. A poem that invites people to wonder a bit, to get the brain to work, to have fantasies of its own, I think are the better poems. The combination of carefully chosen words, the sound they make when read aloud, the precise line breaks to allow a breathing pause or to emphasize a thought...even if that poem is not rhyming (or, as I like to see it, BECAUSE it is not rhyming), makes it poetry one wants to read another time, it makes an impact. Ok, enough rant.
