Hi, I read through this, time of my life writing prompt.
Very nice writing, easy to read, and well rounded on details and flow.
My thoughts along the way:
choose just one -- the best day of my life in the theatre.
(nice intro, securing voice and then specifying a single type of event to alleviate all the possible choices)
and behind -- the wicked stage.
(this paragraph does well to give some sophistication/ theatre cred to the voice)
I dropped each one, in turn, to the floor so that the microphone wouldn't pick up the sound of rustling pages. (I wondered here at the age, I think of Brownies as little kids, though to have the foresight of cause and effect, I think this was happening at a much older age.)
The following year, when I was in third grade, I wrote a play and directed
(So, even though young, still had a head for the bigger theatre picture)
-- not even close.
(ha, funny how memory's vividness can be a very personal thing, making perception color events with a shiny halo, where others can be and the same room and just feel... meh.)
Little Theatre productions, but also served on the Board of Directors and wrote newspaper releases and all kinds of stuff like that.
(Some of my fondest memories were my days in the stage and lighting crew... though I would never call that theatre... more like... reject kids who pointed spotlights at other kids doing plays)
Oh, this was a very funny tragedy indeed.
(the writing is very stable, easy to read, clean.)
the stage crew filling in all the other performance gaps.
(That is pretty cool, to have something performed like this, I can see why it's a treasured day.)
And to thunderous applause, Pete stood up and died again.
(This was well placed to give a vivid little flash of a bigger moment, infectious humor that shares a bit of the experience with the reader)
"Simmering Smoke Signals" brought down the house.
(nice follow back around to tie all the moments together, securing that it is more than just the overall theater that is enjoyed, but how that important aspect is special in the moment picked.)

We were indeed Brownie Scouts when we did that radio show. Dropping the pages to the floor was a big deal to us - proof that we were insiders in the world of radio. There is an addiction to that type of thing. Be at the theater, music, comedy, all of it. They don't caught the bug for nothing. I loved your story. I totally could feel your amazement and appreciation and pride in a work well done and well received. Great job!
