Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I read this a couple of days ago and deliberately held off reviewing. Well worth the six I didn't have at the time.
It's a fine way to finish off your 4-part series. The farmers' life is a hard one and sometimes heart-breaking, but you summon up the dogged determination to keep going and make the best of things when you say "not much time to spare for mourning". I also like the idea in the final lines that their memorial is in the cycle of seasonal bounty that their hard work produces. They are part of the eternal rhythm of life, a peaceful rhythm quite unlike the frenetic pulse of the city.

I think you have articulated it
very well.
So descriptive, yet homey, and
timeless.
It reminds me of the way 'Steinbeck'
writes.
He puts you 'right there.'
Wonderful!
Blessings....

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting this poem. Glad you felt it articulated this sense of the experience of life. Comparing to Steinbeck is always an honor. Loved his Travels with Charlie estory

Land pt. 4; Requiem

Hello my friend

I like poems about the land and farmers. Yours is very well written. We need food and farmers are so important. I worry what the pandemic will do.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your continued support for my poetry. Glad that you are enjoying it; I strive to write things that people will find interesting and challenging. I think we will survive the epidemic. The epidemic in 1918 was 1,000 times worse and we made it through that. estory

A very well-written part four of your series about the land and the pride in working on the land that bring forth fruit and useful items is always soothing to the mind when we can reap the harvest of our labors.

Yes. This is so beautiful. Down to Earth :). Lovely thoughts expressed here. Timeless. Wrap-around sentences. Could use a descriptive photo but text paints a vivid picture on it's own.
Thank you for sharing your fruitful thoughts with us.
Well done!

Yes, we will return from whence we came, do we lose our identity just because we are raised from the very ground we return to, in one sense we are almost eternal, but the only thing that is, is the non material soul, our body once housed. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thanks so much for the excellent review and the wonderful comments supporting the poem. I am glad that this sense of the simple life, the work we do in serving society as a whole, came across in the poem. What carries on from this life is our soul of course, and the beauty of servitude that Christ spoke of so many times. estory

This free verse, Land Pt. 4; Requiem, leaves the reader with the understanding that land lives in generations aswe do. The toilers work and grow, reproduce, then fade away as the the new workers carry on. All work together through time to be valuable to each other. Great finish.

I like this poem that communicates the passing on of the family tradition of the farmers and their commitment to grow the different types of crops on their land. Thanks for sharing this in a creative way. Bill

Estory, it is only because of the lack of six stars that I can give you five.
With this last part of "Land" you have articulated this resurrection, this constant transfiguration how you wanted it. I can feel it too. I live in a farmer's village, where I can see each day what you mean in these four pieces. The perseverance of the farmers with their hard "earthy" but so rewarding work. It is in their blood and genes, from father to son,to, to.
I also can understand the deep feeling of desperation when in a family no son is born. That must be so disruptive!
Thanks for al four "Lands"

Thanks so much for your excellent review and for your wonderful comments supporting this poem. I think you got exactly what I was trying to get across; this sense of the timelessness and the transcendental in the service of the individual in society, the uplifting experience of simple faith in life, and the beauty of perseverance and determination. Glad you enjoyed it. A new series of the art of pottery, so big here in North Carolina, will be next. estory

I enjoyed it so much, it was a pleasure to review. I am looking forward to the new series about pottery. I know a lot about that. My father was an artisan, working ceramics. Countless the days I had to help him in his atelier.

You have done a wonderful job on this four part Land series. There is peace to be had when dealing with black rich dirt, plowin, planting, and harvesting. Well done!
