Those mid 1800s must have been a very torrid time in the US. From 620000 men's lives lost, more or equal to, all other theatres of war in American history, The events of the confrontation with the Indians was most unfortunate with the clashing of an invader and the incumbents, a great setting for a story of a young woman, with all the going's on at the time. Well done my friend, great setting for drama. Well done, blessings Roy

    Thanks, Roy. I so appreciate how you help me imagine the depth of my story and the confluence of times where it took true grit and heart to build a future. I esp. find motivation in the times we live because modern folk doesn't seem to appreciate how the earlier generations took on disease and lived on the edge of death.

I really enjoyed this chapter. I'm glad the men are helping her rebuild. I know she regrets her hasty remarks about Jake.
You left us with a cliff hanger of a storm coming.
