This senryu, Mystic Emotion, presented in a 5-6-5 formatting and allows that the majestic mountains give both height and depth to our view of the world.

River deep, mountain high - love nature. Thanks for reviewing.
Comment from Jeffrey L. Michaux
I like the message conveyed in this. Such indescribable beauty does cause one's soul to well up with great emotion at being in the presence of it. This is good work and I enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!

Thank you! - I'm pleased that my poem could evoke that feeling for you.
Comment from January L'Angelle
I'm not quite sure what Mystic emotion is but I can guess that its about the mysteries of life and what it has that makes us feel things. I enjoyed this poem. I had to read it and interpret it my own way but I suppose we have to do that for almost all poems and art. This is beautiful to me. Well penned. -January L.

Thanks for reviewing. Interpretation is personal to everyone in everything, based on their own beliefs and experience. It is my experience that when I am in nature, especially in mountain scenery, I feel an emotion that is like a mystic spiritual uplifting.

I totally got that from your poem... it was excellent!
Comment from Amanda Louise Davis
I like this poem, especially the contrast between heights and depths. I think that was very clever. I really enjoyed this one, and I think you should keep being your creative self in your work.

Yes the natural world is a place where we find balm for our spirits if we but take time to do so - perhaps now we can share the joy of the outdoors locally - thanks for sharing

Thanks for your review. This poem came from a road trip I did last week as soon as we were allowed to travel locally again. I needed 'to lift up mine eyes to the mountains'.

Something about mountains, isn't there. Even though the heights in your poem may be metaphorical! I liked the balance between heights and depths, too.
Good luck.

Thanks for reviewing. (Once lockdown was lifted I went on a quick trip to Glenorchy... usually far too many tourists in Queenstown to enjoy it but last week was lovely!)

Looking at the picture and reading your poem I can see a deep emotional connection inside your soul and with the majestic and strong mountain.
Mystic emotion
connects me to beauty's heights
in depths of my soul
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

I am a true nature lover, at my happiest surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Comment from Diana Kane
This was beautiful. I love that you went from the Heights and then to the depths. Those word choices were absolutely fabulous. The contrast just highlights the emotion.
