I hope the flow of words begin to overtake the disappointment soon
it will happen but it best you stay "safe at home" and "stuck" for words than losing the battle in hospital
very emotional and expressive write
blessings for a smiley day for you and yours from me and mine

You seem to understand what causes my ennui, Smiley. Thank you for sharing my poem.

I'm sorry to hear that. It appears that you haven't lost all of that desire. This is the perfect time to write and gain inspiration with so much to write about. I believe that your pen will indeed live again! Thanks for sharing this well written work. Well done and keep writing!

Thank you so much, Jeffrey, for sharing my poem, but especially for your encouragement. I needed to hear ?your pen will live again? from a fellow writer. Maybe today is the day!

Normal life does seem so far away right now, I'm struggling to imagine a time again when we'll all be able to walk about freely and gather in large groups. I felt the same about reading a while back, I've always been an avid reader, but I couldn't concentrate with everything that's going on in the world. I'm slowly enjoying it again though. I thought this was a well written piece. Good luck in the contest!

I, too, am trying to imagine when it will be "normal" again. Ironically, I read more, but write less these days. Thank you for sharing my poem and your kind praise.

Well captured here - that sense of not being able to do very much as these scary days of COVID 19 unfold -a sense of inactivity and inertia especially around a favourite activity like writing

It's so nice to know another writer understands. I keep thinking this sense of ennui will end any time now, but it doesn't. Thank you for sharing my poem, zanya.

Do you have a laptop?
Got a pad and pen?
Could you go outside and write?
I've found that not going to appointments, etc., I now have unlimited time to write and I do.
Do you like music? Can you write while listening to music - would that help?
Just trying to maybe spur you on. Your book is calling.
Good luck.

I truly appreciate all your suggestions, pome lover, and I have tried many of them. But this sense of ennui is prolonged by the stay-inside orders. Thank you for your concern and sharing my poem.

Wow -- a very strong effect you've stated here of the state of things on your writing. Good job of folding that into your quatern here - thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

I loved to write... I love those words in this poem! I too had a goal to write a book at the beginning of this year but the virus immediately took my attention. It took everyone's attention. We must use this time to write what we feel. This will go down in history. Awesome poem!

I am so pleased to know there is someone else who shares my plight, A.J. Hopefully, we can use this time to express how we feel. Thank you for sharing my poem.

Very nicely written poem about how the virus changed your life. It has made changes and sort of depressed us but at least for me staying home gives me an excuse to write. Of course if it makes us unhappy, we probably don't want to do much of anything. This is good one for the contest.

Thank you so much, Beth, for sharing my poem and your kind praise. I have time but lack the spirit to write. Hopefully it will return soon.

This work has reached the exceptional level

It took me a few reads to truly appreciate the progression of your narrative and it's structure. ("I loved to write" purposefully placed with deescalation.) Their passion seems to become an afterthought as each stanza passes, eventually being wholly a memory. Very well done on this piece -- poignant as well, I'm sure, for many writers, currently. Hopefully, the writer will find their passion again. Be safe!

Thank you so much, Zachary, or sharing my poem and your keen insight. Yes, the passion for writing has vanished. I hope it returns soon.
