This is a masterpiece of wit and whimsy--what a clever theme! Wrought in excellent rhythm and rhyme. One-of-a-kind--this surely must win the contest! Cheers. LIZ

Well done in the story, the rhyme, the meter, the word play, and such fun to read. I enjoyed the entirety, having both lost and won many a game of Sorry, I appreciate the mix of luck and gamesmanship involved. This was a delightful offering from your clever mind.- Wendy

Thank you for the fantastic review, Wendy. Lol. Yes, I've won and lost many games of Sorry myself. I just thought it would be hilarious to have kings battle it out for their kingdoms over something as ridiculous as a Sorry game. Lol. I'm glad you liked the piece, Wendy. Thank you again.

Hilarious, Don, but oh what a delightful meter and rhyme you carry the reader through with!! Now that I'm finished I still can't get this perfect image of two older gents at a table engaged in such fierce Sorry battle - I just wanna keep on humming your tune - lol! ;) Your use of the fun game (that so many young folks have no idea what it even is!!) to create your 'battlefield' and serve in your 'word play' is so very well done - loved it! ;) Thanx so much for this masterpiece, sir -- you deserve all the Sorry accolades you can gather (wink, wink)! ;) ;) Yvette

Lol. Thank you so much, Yvette. Yeah, I thought it would be hilarious to have them fighting for their kingdoms with something as ridiculous as a Sorry game. Lol. I figured the young folk on here wouldn't have a clue. That's why I gave all the author notes explaining the game. I really appreciate the gracious stars and comments, Yvette. Thank you again.

The story is told in faultless iambic tetrameter with alternate rhyme. the game itself, with rules detailed in the note was easily followed. It seems somewhat similar to the English game of Ludo, though that is played with dice rather than cards. There is a particularly fiendish variation of it, popular in the Royal Navy, under the name of 'Uckers'.

The significance, if any, of the names of the two contestants here, Dryden and Prescott were, I'm afraid, lost on me, possibly because I am English! I googled them without result. Nevertheless I found the story interesting and, despite its length was never once tempted to discard it before finishing the read.

Thank you for the great review, Pantygynt. The names were just names I came up with for the story. I'm sure there's numerous variations of this game all over. I just wanted something outrageously ridiculous for them to play for kingdoms. Lol. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked and made it all the way through this lengthy piece. It was a bit wordy, I'll admit. Have a great day.

This was one of my favorite games to play as a kid - I think I'm going to buy it for this summer. I adore the rhyme, the storytelling, just everything! I have no 'con".

What a fun poem of two kings thrashing it out in this game of Sorry! Very creative of you. I have never heard of the game, but I'm going to look for it on Amazon as it sounds a great one to play at Christmas. You've created a fabulous story in a poem, Dragonskulls, and I really enjoyed reading it. :)) Sandra xxx

That was a fun, creative, and interesting read. I like your uniqueness to this poem have two fantasy kings battle it out on the game board. But he did not play checkers or chess, they played sorry which added even more to the uniqueness. I don't generally enjoy long poems but this one I enjoyed thoroughly. Best of luck in the contest.

This is a long and excellently rhymed poem. The story is clearly understood and entertaining. I got carried away in the story, so if there were any corrections, I sure didn't see them. Very good work.

I've never played the game of "Sorry" it sounds like a fun game, with twists and turns to it. I like that the two kings battled their kingdoms by playing "Sorry" that was clever. Well penned. -January L.
