This is a very nice poem in memory of ANZAC day, Christine. Standing in your driveways at 6 a.m. is a safe and memorable way to acknowledge it and this year to commemorate Covid and pray that it's over soon and forever. Marilyn

This poem, Like Poppies, in honor of ANZAC Day, is strong and represents the loyal and daring fighters who fought and died so long ago. Your commemoration folds the current situation in brilliantly. Owe you a six.

Hello Chris,
A beautiful poem and tribute to those who sacrificed to make it
possible for us to breathe the air, hear the music, see the stars.
Soldier of so many countries fought together to preserve freedom,
as now we fight to defeat an unseen enemy. If we have the strength,
will and dedication of the those who came before, we will succeed.
Best wishes to you, my friend.
Robert

Hello Chrissy, this is a lovely poem and so well written. You compare the war with this virus. It is an unseen enemy and the powers that be know very little about it - no more than you or I. But Anzac will still go ahead and pay homage to the brave men and women who fought a visible enemy. Lovely picture. Lovely read. Stay safe and take care - love Dorothy xxx

What I liked about this was how you used that image of the remembrance of soldiers and these war time images to tie in with the coronavirus epidemic. You gave us that same determination, that same faith, that same honor, as the soldiers in the war. And in many ways it is a war. estory

Hi estory Thank you for your insightful review that is exactly what ai wanted the reader to get out of my poem this year. We did go out at dawn and stand on the driveway to remember our old and present soldiers in war. Hopefully we end the durrent 'war' soon and we can all feel safe again. Cheers Christine

That is indeed a lovely way to commemorate the event in your history.
In driveways at the crack of dawn we'll stand
This year will be unique, quite like no other.
However as we hear the bugle's sound
Last post; in driveways we will stand together.
It is a lovely thought. God Bless the fallen Heroes. Well done. Nancy:)

Christine:
I love you patriotic poem for those souls the wars have claimed. I like your rhyme, and I love the beautiful photo of the poppies too. In the end you say, "Lest we forget." I hope we never forget the unselfish acts of those who fought in our wars. I think it's crucial that Americans are aware of the important role our Allies played in both major wars. Thank you for teaching me something I may have overlooked in my history lessons. Best wishes,
Good luck.

I do so regret not having a six as this wonderful tribute done in ABCB form not only sends a message , but includes the terror of today along with the strength of those gone before

-Lovely image and
presentation, Chris.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-A well written poem
celebrating the heroes
of the war on two fronts-
one in WWI and the current
one with the virus.
-I like the first verse as the
poppies "stand alone" and
you "stand in isolation" with
"candles raised."
-A very good conclusion, too.
-Thanks for sharing this, and
have a good day and weekend, too.
