An extremely good rendition of a difficult form. As a Christian I love the back that you've focused on the person and work of Christ and how our lives can be transformed by him. As a poet, I think you've done a wonderful job with the rhyme scheme. The only line that jarred me a little was:

"What tenets every human should hold dear"

I would have perhaps said "The tenets every human should hold dear", but that's just a matter of preference. Well done.

I enjoyed your poem, DP. You did a good job with the rhymes
and pacing. Your words were well thought out and told a great
and true story. As I'm not familiar with this style, I will not comment
on it. I do know it has a different rhyme scheme than an English
sonnet. Your words painted a picture for readers.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

You have been writing for quite a long time, and I see numerous ribbons of The Best kind. How many fans have you that peek in every time you submit a piece, Well done and obviously appreciated.

This was a very beautiful poem. I loved how softly this was written. There is a gentleness to it. I compare the tone to the way I picture Christ. His calm demeanor. The sense of peace. Well written. Gretchen

You took us from the Nativity to Easter in your lovely Petrarchan Sonnet and summarized the gospel in these fourteen lines. It seems that the rhyme scheme is different from the Shakespearean one. Thanks for repromoting to share!

I am glad you liked it, Helen. The rhyme scheme it set by the way Petrarch wrote his sonnets. It is also called and Italian sonnet.

The author's words are heartfelt, meaningful, descriptive and creative.
The read of these beautiful words convey hope. I really loved the last stanza as it confirms so clearly the love of our Savior. The poem flows and
connects well. Hope you are having a great Sunday!....Maria

I'm not one who knows about the different types of poetry, so I can't rate on that. I rate by what touches me and this absolutely does.
Beautiful work and lifted my spirits :)

This has great imagery and visuals. I am not sure about a Plutarchan sonnet, but I wonder if iambic pentamer is a requirement. Iambic pentamer or tetrameter are usually requirement for a sonnet. You don't have an iambic meter.

It's great as a stand alone poem but I am not sure this qualifies as a sonnet.

Thanks for the positive comments and the constructive criticism,. I have problems with iambic pentameter, that is why I included 'maybe' in the description of the poem

Remember, the iambic meter is da-DUM, da-DUM, da-DUM, da-DUM, da-DUM (lol). 10 syllables, 5 metric "feet". Look in my portfolio, I have a lot of sonnets there, it's my favorite form.
