This is a beautiful poem, telling a story I am familiar with.
I used to turn over the puzzles my son did.
And watch him do them without a picture.
He got his physics and computer degree.
Now at a similar age sits at home.
Can't cope with people.
Life is the most difficult puzzle. :-))Z.

Yes indeed, life is the most difficult and yet at once, also the most beautiful of puzzles. Thank you for the review and rating.

I love jigsaw puzzles and this posting caught my interest immediately. It is a brilliant poem describing the uniqueness of a challenged child and how that child is so important in the lives of everyone in your family. It is the kind of warm and caring work that remains in a reader's mind with the evident love coming through so well. Wish I had a six for it.

I worked with developmentaly adults for a greater part of my career and often witnessed miraculous and special talents and connections. Your poem offers focused insights into the "puzzle" of God's plan. Catharine is surely an important part of that for all who know her. I love the metaphor of a jigsaw puzzle for what we each bring to our lives. Catherine laughing as she found the puzzle piece you were seeking, both literally and figuratively was a perfect connecting point. Loved this offering and am grateful I had an opportunity to read it. Thank you.

Surrender To Know

Hello my friend

Beautiful poem about your precious daughter. Doing a puzzle is no easy task. It's interesting that she does it so well but is unable to care for herself. It must be a part of her brain that works exceptionally well. It's interesting. It's clear that she is well loved. Well done my friend.

Thank you for your excellent review and rating. I think the difficultly for me is the patience needed to complete a puzzle. I am glad to say that more and more I have become more patient and I thank God for that.

I think you did a good job of creating this portrait of you and your daughter working on this puzzle, in this halting language, that underscores the frustrations of your relationship. There's a mystery here, as well as love, a feeling that she is one step beyond you, what you can understand about the secrets of her mind, as she fits these puzzle pieces together uncannily. You get the love you have for her, the joy you feel in her joy, but also the frustration of not being able to share in her innermost thoughts. It is a poignant portrait. estory

Hello sir,
Thank you for sharing Catherine's story. You are a good father, yes, I can tell. Working with a challenging child is hard, I have several friends who do this. I celebrated my God son's sixteen birthday three days ago. He has never really spoken and can not walk all those years. I love how you described you and Catherine doing a puzzle together. It is beautifully written and shares those things that others probably would miss if they watched. Sometimes surrendering and allowing God to be present is so much better. Great job on this love poem. I love it. The photo is perfect. Thank you for sharing. May our Father above continue to bless you and Catherine richly. BTW: My mother's name is Catherine (deceased). Happy writing:-)

A very well-written heartfelt poem about someone with mental illness do not have the abilities we have but their perspective is different from ours and many things we find difficult they will solve in a few minutes.

Blessings Sandra and thank you for this excellent review and rating. Your comments are so true. Everyone has their own special gift, I think one of the best gifts is the ability to make someone smile and my Cathy sure has that.

Hello Author, I've worked with my share of disabled people, and the one thing I've noticed is that if you're with someone long enough you can find that thing that makes then unique. Most disabled children have it... they all have something. With Cathy, it's puzzles... with my son, it's science. He can't write for crap, but he's smarter than a cracker when it comes to Science. He started studying Engineering this year, a 2-year course at a community college. After 1 year of A's, he's decided it's not for him, he wants to change his major... (I'm thinking oh no... to what? I hope not something like Art history or English... no offense to us) I needn't have worried... it's Chemistry. I wouldn't go there if you paid me during a pandemic. lol

Blessings Susand and thank you for your excellent review and rating. Well, I'm sure your son will do well in whatever field he chooses. I've taught my two youngest sons to chose a career that would make them happy but always remember to look after family because if those around you aren't happy neither will you be; that's just the way God made us. I think helping us care for Cathy all these years has also helped instill this ethic of Love in them.

Lovely piece! What a delightful--and clever--daughter. This is elegantly constructed--I love the pronoun connections--thanks for the footnotes! Cheers, LIZ

Blessings Elizabeth and thank you for this excellent review and rating. I wasn't sure if the pronoun connections would work, I'm glad you liked them.
