My heart broke for you, with the emotion revealed in your poem. I know it from the other side - as the adopted child. I knew nothing of my mother, was lied to and obstructed, until adoption laws changed and I could find out myself. I was 45 when I met her, but she did not want a relationship and treated me in a distressing manner.
It is hurtful, but somehow we have to accept what other people's choices are. You and I have missed out on a lot, but we have to let go. It is beyond our control. However, never say never. My mother is dead, but while your son lives there is a possibility - but don't hold your breath. Try not to dwell on it.

Very well said. I was adopted and I'm on the other side of this coin. I sought out my birth parents out of curiosity. I feel for you. Good luck to you! This is very well written. Respectfully, -January

Sorry for your loss and the lack of communication, Dove. Don't overthink the issue. I don't wish to add to your grief. So, I will say good job with your contest entry. Your lines are in good form. Your picture and color scheme work well. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Just wonderfully written, although very sad how situations can happen. My prayers to you and your son. Stay well and who knows, you may see him when you least expect it.

One must never give up hope for to only over-concentrate on the present can lead to severe emotional distress. Look beyond ones self and the present circumstances, knowing that this too will pass, and that the future will be brighter for both you and him. I find that prayer to St. Gerard Majella, St. Monica, and to St. Jude, very comforting. This poem made me think and shows the struggle and the pain. giovanni

Dear giovanni. Thank u for your review and kind words. I have prayed to Sts. Monica and Jude, but not to Gerard Majella. I'll add him to my list. Dove

This is a tragic poem about have a baby taken from one and placed for adoption I can relate to it as that was the case for me many years ago, The bright spot for me is I found him when he was 35 years old and we have a good relationship now.

Dear Patricia, Thanks for your review, and I'm glad you can relate to me. My son is 34 years old in June 2020, I "found" him, in a manner of speaking, when he was 11 going on 12, but I wasn't allowed to see him then, and he hasn't indicated that he wants to see me now. Since you have a "bright spot" regarding your son, I hope the same thing happens to me. I keep praying. Bless you on this Divine Mercy Sunday, Dove
