I delightful short work with big heart. My grandchildren do the same thing to me. I am completely undone by them. I regret no sixer, for this is worthy. My best to you and yours, and best wishes for the contest, Bill.

Hi Bill. This is a nice story of appreciation for the blessings of grandchildren. They are adorable. Seems like you're a good grandpa. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Yes, the innocence of a child is pure and delightful to be a part of it. Thanks for sharing your poignant story with its happy ending. Love the picture. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Awe, Bill, so he saw the joy in his grandchildrens' life, something he'd missed out on in his own youth. But now he'd achieved this goal a couple of generations down the line. That's how I read this. Good luck in the contest. Ulla:)))

That last line is so beautifully written, and it captures that feeling we old folks sometimes get at witnessing these scenes (cute grandchildren by the way) - a feeling that is part rejoicing in their current happiness, and part recalling your own happiness from younger days ("rejuvenated from light that shone through...").

Hi there,

Very nice, Bill. Having kids around does give a different perspective on things, a lot of things. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, or to be found in the unadulterated minds of the young.

I have a feeling this will do well. I certainly hope so

Bill, This very short story shows how childrens joy can change a mood and a person. It is good that the dysfunction cycle was broken.
Congrats on becoming the recognized writier.

Hi Bill,

Sometimes looking at kids play can bring back our childhood memories too, and you were to relate that in just 100 words, impressive.

It's a good storyline and I enjoyed reading it.

Neat account of comparing past and present, with a darling photo of grandchildren Liam, Kimberly, Emily. Kimberly must be pretty precocious to be standing like that at 10 months already. Love the 'g' alliteration in The giddy joy pierced his gloomy soul. Thanks for sharing!
