I sure hope that this is true. But there are some people that are not good at the 'talking' part of a friendship.

I truly like--and agree--with the sentiments expressed in this 5-7-5. However, I think you might make your poem stronger (pardon the pun here) by rephrasing lines 1 and 2: OUR bonds of friendship/STRENGTHEN during these long days.
