Hi Lisa,
Are you able to go outside for a walk, fresh air and a little exercise? We can here. We just have to make sure we keep 6 feet away from other people. That doesn't mean we can't say "hello" as we pass though. We can still be friendly. So far, nobody is telling us we have to wear a face mask outdoors. But the police are fining people who congregate ... for example, in a park or playground. No gatherings of any kind! But I think it's wrong to stay indoors (unless you might have been in contact with the virus). Then you need to self-isolate for 2 weeks.
I don't think it's good to watch all the pandemic stuff on TV either. That's all you see on these News channels now. They hardly mention the number of people who have beat the virus. It's always the number of people infected... the deaths... those in hospital... those in ICU. In these dismal days, we need some comic relief... "Mom", "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Seinfeld", "Frasier", "The Big Bang Theory", etc.
Actually, Fanstory is perfect for staying in touch with people... talking with our keyboards at least. And if we're lucky, we can write a few poems.
I love these lines, and the play on words,
"I crave your fun-shine"
"documenting dreary daze" ... nice alliteration there, too!
I guess when you're in isolation, memories come to the rescue. This will give you an idea what some people do go through... like those in prison, cramped in a cell with no TV, just a book perhaps. How about a light house keeper? Astronaut? Transport long-hauler? Janitor?
These are rough times... crazy times. Let's hope we all learn something.
Cheers
Kimbob

I'm sorry for your friend, LisaMay. Life has thrown the dice and there is nothing we can do, besides going crazy. You're a woman with many talents, writing, painting, (Singing?) :). Keep yourself entertain. We will get over this doom or go out like the dinosaurs. But... NEVER GIVE UP!

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about life in isolation is probably much worse to go through alone without someone to talk to. My daughter and I do not talk much either but just the knowledge of another human being around makes it easier.

We are both natural introverts but seem to just enjoy each others' company without talking too much.

Your concise, moving poem conveys a powerful message about memory, how we can, to a degree, hold on to someone or something by visualizing
(sighted people can.)

Your write is wonderful, LisaMay. Sad, but with clever poetic wordplay that adds a dash of charm.
Lockdown is stressful. Sorry you didn't get your kitten. As you may recall, I'm a cat person myself so I feel your pain. Take care of yourself. Creativity is your friend now.

Stay safe and healthy.

Blessings Julia

Love the wordplay of fun-shine and daze/days. DDD alliteration too. Isolation marooned in desolation says it all--so sorry this is your life and no cat to cheer it. Hang in as best you can. LIZ

Sad to read that you didn't get your kitty. Maybe there is a stray looking for a home. I loved your Haiku type poems today. They are heartfelt. I too am alone. But I have my outside dog who comes in some of the time. It's a good time to write and read more. Take advantage.

Oh, Lisa,
How well I can empathize! Lost our "Dickens" a few years ago, and how I wish he was here. He always had the ability to make even the darkest days "sparkle." Our Humane Society also advertised the need to adopt pets before our lockdown. If I lived alone, I would have jumped at the idea. But my husband was far too traumatized by Dickens' death to consider another furry friend.

Hoping you are safe and well...

That is a shame about the cat that never was. I have a rescue cat. In fact I have lost count of the rescue cats with whom I have shared my home. There are some gems here, 'fun-shine' being one and the near rhyme in consonance of being another, not to mention the double rhyme in the first part.

What a shame the shelter was closed. Having a pet would be quite a comfort when you're stuck at home for days on end. They're now talking six months here in WA but hopefully they're being over-cautious.

6 months would certainly be a challenge, but being over cautious is better than being dead. I hope you are getting along ok under the conditions.
It's probably best that I don't have a pet to feed as income will be a challenge as well - I've lost both my income streams from tourist guide and art outlet.

Ugh - that's pretty tough. Being retired, it hasn't made a lot of difference to us. They haven't stopped us shopping yet but we only go once a fortnight anyway.
