Yvette,

Clearly your verse of 'neighborly embrace' was better than my entry. Competing against you is akin to drawing a two-axis graph and you exploring the intricacies of a hyperbolic curve. LOL

Very nice win for your entry. Congrats.

Mark

Thank you for your review, Mark -- you put a smile on a 'tired' face this morning.... of course, we did just get finished conic sections in Algebra 2 so your reference to hyperbolas gave me a good chuckle!! ;) ;) Take care of you!! ;) Yvette

So true and well said writer it's the little things we do that really makes a difference isn't it? This little poem met the requirements of the contest and I would say I sum it up as a poem that came from matters of the heart. Good job

Very nicely done, this is a difficult style you have done it well. A good sentiment too, there is a lot of moaning about what we can't do but you've shown us there are still plenty of things we have to offer.

This is so true! A neighborly wave now means so much more than it did before this isolation period! We need to stay connected emotionally, if not physically. Thanks for the reminder.

What a wonderful thought. We can touch people in so many ways and right now, it is an essential part of our existence. This is beautifully written and formatted.

Thanx so much, W.J., for your review on this one.... the short ones it seems is all I'll have time for until this is said and done.... I'm answering reviews until my brain fogs out -- I was lecturing to a camera ALL day and I'm just tired - lol!! ;) Just one week's worth of lectures left, though... HOORAY!! ;) Then just the grading and such... :) :)

I love your poem and photo. You describe touch as being much more than physical. Touch can be a really kind gesture. There are many lonely people in the world looking for just a single gesture of kindness to brighten their day. The photo is extremely fitting. Good luck in the contest.

You are so right, Cindy -- we should do as much as we can and keep pouring on the 'smiles'! The fun part is to really make ?em wonder what you?re up to with so much cheerfulness ? they can?t help but smile back!! I?m pretty sure a number of folks at the Wal-Mart yesterday morning thought I was a bit ?touched? but so many of them ended up smiling from across the produce department, or down the cereal aisle or? oh, yeah, you should have seen the lady?s reaction when I waved and said a cheerful ?Good morning!? a few ?displays? over in the bakery/deli area...lol! But she walked away with a smile under that mask, it was obvious! Keep smiling and believing ? we?ll get through this!! ;-)
Thank you for your wonderful review!!

"Friendly waves cost you nothing," A definite winner!

"And that note on a neighbor's door?" might get buckshot in my neighborhood.

Enjoyed the read!!

Best of luck in the Etheree writing contest.

Over here, perhaps, but even though we're very far apart we all know each other, so buckshot isn't necessary.... however there is that and more for those that DON'T belong in the 'neighborhood'...
Twas mostly for folks that live in highly populated areas... seems they have a problem with things like buckshot in the first place...

I go for walks and on my walks there is a little dog that comes out to greet me. His owner always lets him out when I walk by. The one day she said she thought he was going to break the screen on the window cuz he was so excited. What she didn't know was that I have a past. I go for walks to clear my head and sometimes that little dog comes out at just the right time. He really does brighten my day up. I wrote about a book about my past a couple years ago and 6 weeks ago I gave her a copy of the book and a note explaining how thankful I was to her. How much of a difference she's made in my life by letting me get to know her little dog. Sometimes it doesn't take much, just the little things, but they can mean the world.

A very well-written Etheree about touching another's life without physical touch but by the little gestures we show that we are noticing they are there with friendly smile or a wave with the hand.
