Good question in that write. I believe our leaders were raised with the same morals that we "common" people are raised with. I also think that despite that fact, the majority always comes out the winner. What chance does a person with morals have over those that don't? Peace

This is a very thought provoking 5-7-5-7-7. I'm not clear about who the "who" refers to in your poem but I do agree that our leaders don't seem to learn from their mistakes. Thanks for sharing. -Steve

The poem is deep. When we lose something. He does teach us ethics and morals. What about our leaders? We are losing our nation, culture, and country to foreign influences.
Maybe it is a time of reckoning by God for our lack of morals and ethics in the country. Abortion, gay marriage, lying, extortion, and complacency. He could be ready for a day of reckoning for the USA.
Crooked politicians practice corrupt politics. They serve their money sources instead of the people they are supposed to represent. I'm afraid we have seen our best days by far.

Seem a bit convoluted thinking. Are national leaders the only teachers of the young? Perhaps if parents were more diligent in teaching said morals, the national leaders would reflect their parents good moral teaching?
