I really enjoyed this read. The premise made for a great story, and the personal issues of the characters really highlighted their structure, especially with the self doubt she was facing!

Thank you for your review, Beautiful Girl! :) My apologies for running so late -- this transition to online teaching is like triple the work and I'm just not finding any me time.... but the light is in sight (i.e., they've canceled final exams and I just have to get through the lessons through the end of the month and few days in May - ugh!)... ;) :)
You take care out there!! ;) Yvette

No worries Yvette! Do not stress yourself out too much. I wish my country would cancel exams!

Quite the story, where the narrator's reflection is more than a reflection, and the answer to a question she herself had about a character's pregnancy in the first book is answered at the end of a camping encounter, with her own handwriting on a rock. Interesting story here.

Great story. I ran out of 6stars, and this is deserving of it. Well thought and creatively written. I liked the details. The thought of camping with drones is scarier than a bear. Good narration with dialogue. Nice work :)

Hello Y.M.Roger,
Nice piece of fiction having smooth and captivating flow from the beginning to "She was my reflection" and onward up to "..and agreed work. Then I feel a slight glitch due to forced stretch in the story.
After "...work." + Eventually and the rest up to the end. It would have been better. It's my opinion.
2nd, Please see this sentence again: "His pressed his fingers to my lips."
'He' in place of 'His'... I think so.
Otherwise, Interesting!
GOOD LUCK in the contest.

My goodness, dear Yvette!
Your creativity and imagination know no bounds!
You had me from the very beginning. But I've "gotta tell ya" that camping scares the "bejeezus" out of me! Just for the unlikely reason of which you write, and never mind mosquitos or bears!
Your story moves along well, with keen description and dialogue!
Kudos and best wishes!

Thanks for sharing!

Gosh, you have no idea how much that smile means to me right now -- both the words and your shining face!! ;) You know I'm going nutty (because patience is NOT my strongpoint - have discovered new ways to string together those traditional 'cuss words' - lol!!) Don't worry, nobody hears 'em but me and maybe David and he knew what he was getting into 30 years ago! ;) This online education thing is going to make me crazy! :) But the light is in sight (i.e., they've canceled final exams and I just have to get through the lessons through the end of the month and few days in May - ugh!)... ;) :) Take good care, my friend, and as the truckers say: I promise to catch you on the flip side (of this chaos!!)... ;) Yvette

Interesting premise. I felt like this could have been a real spooky encounter ultimately leading to a lot of trouble for Val down the line. Kind of that alternate universe type muse that doesn't take kindly to having their ideas stolen. Very Stephen King like. You soft-pedaled it very well and turned it almost comical instead which I wasn't expecting. Good dialogue and it holds attention well.

Thank you so much for such an awesome review, Paws - It's always great to receive such a wonderfully detailed review! Got me smilin' midst this education chaos!
Anyway, I just had to tell you that you made my day -- this was my "make myself" step away from teaching duties before I became a very grumpy gus (the all work and no play thing, ya know?) This online education thing is going to make me crazy! :) But I've only got two more weeks worth of prep (I'm operating about 2 weeks ahead in my preps: YouTube, Assignments, Resources, Etc -- yes! I'm on YouTube! lol!) to be done for the school year and then I'll just have to keep up with their weekly submittals/grading/returning.... but UGH!! ;) So, I know it took me a while to respond, but I promise, I've got a good excuse - LOL! ;) Thanx for your patience while I 'get there' -- take care of you and COME ON MAY 10th!! :) ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette, this is a beautiful story and I loved it. She met her muse and the inspiration came back to her. I liked how you set the plot up against a conflict in her marriage. Well written an good luck in the contest. Thanks a lot for participating. Ulla:)))

Thank you so much, Ulla -- and I am so sorry I'm so far behind! I apologize for this 'more cut/paste than personal response', but if I don't do something to try to get my 'head above water' I never will!! ;) :) This online education thing is going to make me crazy! :) But I've only got two more weeks worth of prep (I'm operating about 2 weeks ahead in my preps: YouTube, Assignments, Resources, Etc -- yes! I found the story quite interesting I'm still trying to figure out if this is pair of gay lovers cuz I had no indication of the character being female that was talkin.
Also reminds me of the doppelganger which is your own person.
Thanks,
Doctor Ricky 1024

Not sure about the confusion. The narrator is a she -- used frequently beginning with 'another lady' and her reflection being female. She comments 'God, I love this man' and the man's name is Dustin...... Even if it would not have been as obvious as it is, the fact that it was a gay couple would not have affected the storyline... But I appreciate your time.

I'm thinking Val has an idea for her book and possibly a short story or another novel from this little overnight experience. That imaginary or not imaginary friend could come in quite useful if she visits occasionally.
You have love Nick. Where can I find one like that?

This is an excellent story. Though lengthy, it kept my attention throughout because (1) you set the scene so well in the first few paragraphs, (2) your narrator is so INTERESTING and I was fascinated by her story, (3) you handle the MIRROR scene so well, and (4) your dialog was spot-on. I was a tad disappointed all this was JUST A DREAM, but you saved it from being hackneyed by your solid ending. A winner, I'm sure. Rod

Thank you so much for such an awesome review and those wonderful stars, Rod - It's been a long time since I received such a wonderfully detailed review and I have to say that I'm grinning like a loon over here. Especially since you liked my ending (someone else said it was a let down... bummer).

You are very welcome, Yvette. I am truly glad I am retired from teaching as I don?t think I could handle the on-line teaching you are doing. I was just learning Power Point when I retired and know YouTube would be too much. Good luck. Rod
