I absolutely love the message of this. I believe that the United States is one of the only countries that make concessions for language barriers. In many other countries, either learn the language or get a good dictionary and interpreter. This is good work and I enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!

Such a good idea to write about. I hate pressing buttons and not being able to speak with the one you would like. It truly is a rip off in telecommunications!

Hello my friend
Yvette created an interesting contest. You wrote your poem clearly and well thought-out. You have good reasons why April should be celebratory for the English language.

The picture you chose was a good match for your topic.
I hate all the confusing 'directions' one now has to follow just to talk to a business. Huh? It's almost as if they don't want the customer to call in???
Best of luck in the "April Octo-Poem" Contest.

Hooray, Author!!! Hooray! I, for one, am right there with you! Nothing on this planet, annoys me more, than having to call a company in the first place, than having to listen to their call system say, "press one for English"... I mean, where do you think I live anyway??? Istanbul?

I really liked this and it made my smile which i find not may poems do for me. Can't comment on your picture as i am blind but really enjoyed the poem and the rhyme was clear for me. I do have problem reading poems as my speach software has problems reading some words and rhyming scenes but yours came through ver clear and conveyed loads in its reading. The only bit i did nto get was the line about pressing 1 in America, obviously a culture difference. Very enjoyable read

The United States has never declared an official language, so although, historically, most folks speak English, it is not required, per se. When you make a phone call to some sort of organization or office, typically an announcement will require you to "press one for english". Thus my comment!
Thank you for the marvelous rating.

You've written an excellent poem celebrating the English language
and the Bard himself.
Excellent rhyming and meter that reads smoothly.
The English language is much abused, but once in a while
someone comes along who makes it radiant.
Nice little touch at the end.
Well done.
Best wishes to you.
Stay safe.
