That's funny! I have seen those trees around here and they look very sharp. Are they?
I wish that you had included a picture then the reader would also see why they might be "puzzling to monkeys!" A fun poem!

Dear lyenochka, thank you for your review and the five stars. The trees are very old, almost prehistoric.I can't speak for the monkeys though.
I wish I had included a picture too, but sometimes my memory fails me and I forget how to do things. When I remember again I just might fix the problem cheers Cass

This is so cute. It gave me a chuckle. Monkeys give me a chuckle, too. Everything seems to make them curious. Best of luck in the contest if it isn't over. Hugs, Marilyn

Yup,it is all over. I didn't enter to win, I just had a thought about a monkey puzzle tree and a monkey's little face with a puzzled expression on it and put the two together. I once had a wonderful afternoon playing with little squirrel monkeys. There was a baby ALL ON ITS OWN playing with a piece of paper. I took it from between the bars and it squeaked at me until I put it back. The other monkeys saw what happened and they came to play too. They'd grab the paper, run away with it and then bring it back to me. I'd pick it up and put it down again and they'd grab it and race off handing it to each other and doing the rounds of the whole cage before bringing it back to drop in front of me again. This went on until the paper was shredded into pieces the size of postage stamps
and I was exhausted from laughing so much. A keeper came along to hear what was happening and stood watching the game.
He approved of my part in the game because all I did was touch the paper and not the little beasties. I wouldn't have dared. Their teeth are very sharp and they are wild animals after all. cheers Cass

Oh, Cass, this is one of the most adorable stories I've ever heard. Thank you for sharing that experience. Animals are wonderful, fascinating creatures. The monkeys enjoyed playing with you as much as you did them. What a joy. Hugs, Marilyn

I never heard of a monkey puzzle tree, so I looked it up to see if it was real. Oh, it is. So I wonder if you climbed the tree or if you are just confident you could if you wanted to.

Well now, I've never attempted to climb a Monkey Puzzle tree! there are so many prickly branches that I think it would be most uncomfortable. I'll stick to nice easy eucalypts and a friendly oak tree in the Botanic Gardens. cheers Cass

Well, that's nice to know that you proved to yourself that you are not a monkey! I wonder how those trees puzzle monkey? I reckon a monkey would work out whatever the puzzle is quite quickly. Your poem has a bit of humour to it - a nice change from all the current doom and gloom.

Dear LisaMay Thank you for your review and the five stars. You also seem to have a bit of humor tucked away in the corners there Nothing to this piece at all really. Just a bit of monkeying around. Cheers

I think this is a good entry for the 5-7-5 Tree Hugger writing prompt.
This short verse tells of monkey puzzle trees.
Well done and I wish you good luck with the contest.
