Mystery Poet,
This is a very powerful prayer that you have shared with all, one that is much needed during this difficult and trying time. Your author's notes are well received and yes, there is always "HOPE." Thanks for sharing and for this prayer.
Blessings...Portia

Thank you, Portia.
I think this virus will change the way a lot of us live and do things from now on. And I hope the main one is a common goal.

I like your thoughts and sentiments expressed in this writing. Let us all humble ourselves to repent and work together for good during this time of crisis. Let the results of joining together continue and make this nation stronger as you say. Bill

Bill, tell me truly, can you see politicians humbling themselves? and repenting??? I just hope they will try to work together. This pandemic is determining how we will live from now on, I'm afraid. It is changing everything.
-
The vast majority, honestly kno. Hoping for them to work together better and for grass roots repentance that makes a difference in this nation. Bill

Dear Free Verse poet, you executed a powerful and uplifting poem. while each stanza is a stand-alone winner, my deepest prayer is this one answered:
let our better selves shine through, and be true Americans.
Best of success in the contest.

thank you sir - especially since you entered it too.
I do hope and pray that our great country will come together, though it's hard to visualize.

You know how to pray. This can only come from a longstanding relationship with your Maker. May the Lord grant your prayer! Good luck in the contest.

thank you! Your kind words are much appreciated.
I do worry so, about this country, its people, and how divided it is. We need help and healing. But we need to do most of it ourselves.

God is still over all.
-
yes. I didn't say He wasn't, but He also gave us wills to make our own decisions and I hope the people will choose to act in a positive and healing way with God's help.
-
You are exactly right. Folks must get their 'want to' to 'wanting to', and get their heart with God. As you say, it is their choice.

I love that you know the way it should be, that you still have a long way to go, but you are trying. I think these times test our faith and our character. It's good to have the bad side exposed so God's light can overcome.

Thanks, Patricia. Cute picture of you two cute people.
Just for the record, I said I had a way to go, not a long way to go. :)
Just pullin' your leg a bit.

This is very beautiful prayer you have penned for the Hope writing prompt. I appreciate what you said in your notes. If we are all honest there are no perfect people on this earth, but we can do the best we can to love and help others, especially in this crisis. Thank you for sharing. May God bless you! Teri

You're right, nobody's perfect, but I just wish that those who spend every minute criticizing, would cease and do something helpful.
My hope for a united country, at times, seems like a pipe dream.

What a great contest entry, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading your thoughtful prayer. I agree with everything you wrote. These are trying times, but we will get through them. That being so, what you said about uniting as one in the spirit of what we know is America should be the outcome. I, for one, pray this happens. There is too much hate and ill-will now. Maybe that will disappear and be replaced by kindness and compassion and work towards a united front. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

thanks, Jan, and I hope so, too. We need to bring back common courtesy, manners, patriotism, - the things that made this a great country.
Thanks again!
