What a bittersweet flash fiction story. A little dog is found by the lady, Cookie. The two form a lasting bond... one that went beyond the grave.
Good luck in the contest, my friend.
Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you for that nice review.

You did a good job with your contest entry. I enjoyed reading it. Your lines read well with great imagery. I know how dogs bond with owners and how they instinctly know when owners are sick or unhappy. The way this ended shows me that bond. Her buddy died of a broken heart. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

What a sad piece of flash fiction but it was well written. I did not see anything wrong with your writing. I wish you good luck in the contest. Shirley

Good job on this Flash here Tom. I think it has a lot of emotion and colorful images contained in the text. it almost sounds like a true story but fiction can be strange that way we know. Bless you and good luck in the contest my friend. Bob

If I had a six I'd give it to you, this brought a big lump in my throat. This is a lovely, sad flash fiction story. I know of animals that have been so upset when their owner died they pined away and eventually died as well. Dogs are very loyal and loving creatures. This is sure to do well in the contest, I wish you the best of luck, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

This really hits home with me. My friend lost her husband in January. He was lying in a hospital bed next to their own bed. Their dog, who never got up on the bed jumped up on it and tried to get close to her husband. Her husband died within an hour and the dog continued to sleep on his side of the bed.

I'm so sorry for your friend. A dog is a man's best friend. Thank you for that nice review.

What a sad and sweet story. Animals know who their friends are and are very loyal. I don't doubt that they have feelings just as we do, and can miss loved ones, whether human or animal, just as deeply. Your story was well put together, with the proper flow from one point to the next, and an affecting ending. Good luck in the contest.

Oh, this is just an awesome offering for the Flash contest - the reader certainly does not see that ending coming!! ;) I would note, however, that according to MSWord, there are only 148 words and the contest requires 150... be sure to add two in there somewhere as this is such a great story! ;) Thanx for sharing and good luck! ;)

Dear TPA,
This is both a sad an d happy story. I have heard of other such accounts of the love of animals for their masters. I do not believe animals have souls, but such stories as yours convinces me they do have hearts of love.
