This is funny. I don't like writing sonnets and poems that have a lot of rules
and syllable count. And to compare it to math, which my sons 6th grade math is driving me crazy - well. I can just so relate to this witty long

Oh, yes. I like this and so agree! I've had some fun oems that I've scrapped because the syllable count was off.
One, two, three, four... Nope that's wrong! lol

This 3-5-3, Count On Me, has the proper formatting and reminds me that there are many people interested in poetry because of the math in it. Sestinas are an example. Fun stuff.

you make a good point, there.
And the added effect of the black background and absence of an accompanying picture is great. Gave me a chuckle.
Very clever.

PS
I didn't quite get your title unless it means count on you to say something like you did.

I like this one. I definitely had to learn how to count syllables and to creatively teach it to my 6th graders when we did Diamante, Haiku, and Cinquain. I thoroughly enjoyed the success & confidence this POETRY instilled in the students. It wasn't just the syllables, it was the end roduct...the poem.

I really enjoyed reading your 3-5-3 poem. It made me laugh a little. The word syllables really does sound like it should belong with math... or maybe college. Syllable... syllabus? Thank you for sharing.

I think this is a good entry for the 3-5-3 writing prompt.
This short piece is clever, telling of counting syllables.
Well done and I wish you good luck with the contest.

Count on me

Hello my friend

Good syllable count and presentation. The topic is interesting. I guess counting is addition so it's definitely math involved :)

Interesting thought, Mystery Author. Poetry encompasses so many forms and syllables is just one of many. But, your opinion is valued, too. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan
