Ciao poet. I gave you your 2nd vote.
This poem is thought provoking ..
The lynx thought it had dinner already but then out of the blue a hunter came along , killed his prey ( the rabbit ) and it was left empty handed/pawed
( biggrin)
There is a truth to be learnt here.
In life as humans were seek a sense of certainty because we want to feel comfortable and safe ....ready for an eventuality....
.....yet according to Benjamin Franklin there are only two certain things in life : death and taxes( laugh).
Even those that have made a position in this world had to deal with the uncertainties of life ..
....their strategy?...
...they accepted this truth and just decided not to let this fact stop them from trying because they understood that failing is always better than not trying at all ..
...from failure one can learn, move forward and change one's life for the better.
Uncertainty creates opportunities.
Most of my life I have let uncertainty hold me back , I hope this year I overcome my fears and make that leap .... life is suppose to be an adventure not something stagnating and stale.
PS .I read this entry on the contest site page and had already decided to vote for it once in booth.. later , I was surprise to see it in your portfolio.. ( smile)
I think you have a talent in writing 5-7-5 poems .. I find this reduced format a real challenge .. you are able to say so much with so little words .

Tempeste,
Amazing that you have given me ANOTHER 6 for my short verse. Methinks the voters didn't read your review note to me. If they had, I would surely have received more votes. LOL
In my mind, the hunter?s gun sound scared the lynx?s prey. The beauty of poetry is there are many nuances or interpretations - yours is equally valid. My lynx will just have to get his dinner another time; glad my hunter missed!

You've written an excellent 5-7-5 poem for the contest
with very good description and use of alliteration.
Strong effective comment in the satori line.
The hunter becomes the hunted, or its meal has been taken.
Perfect choice of picture.
Well done
Good luck in the contest

Robert,
My thought was that the lynx had lost its al fresco dining choice and not his life.
Thanks for your support of this post.

I was intrigued by the third line of this poem. The hunter changed the lynx's dinner plans. Now that could happen any of three ways. First, the hunter kills the dinner. Second, the hunter kills the lynx. Third, the hunter scares off both the lynx and his prey. I like the third option, so my mind will go with that.
Your third line is superb. To me, this 5-7-5 poem meets the stringent requirements of a haiku. Excellent job.

Debbie,
My idea was in tune with your third option. Whether the prey was frightened off, rather than being shot, is another matter. Thanks for your encouragement on my short verse style.
