Hi Liz,
I've got to get my wife to read this. With 3 garden home units and 2 townhouse units Plus a 24-unit apartment building going up around us, we are seriously thinking of moving this summer or fall. But I will not take a bunch of junk with us this time, like I was forced to in 2015. It's time to declutter! To rid our lives of things we will never use or even look at again. Our youngest son has already warned us... when we "kick off", he's going to rent one of those big dumpers. Then he is going to toss out 95% of our belongings! That includes every dusty knick-knack in every corner of our house.
My wife is a packrat. She won't throw anything out! What can I do? But I'll tell you one thing... if I knock over that cat bowl of water one more time, They'll hear me screaming in King Square!
Nicely penned!

I'm still here. My fantasy shall remain unfulfilled, alas. I practice not what I preach! Thanks for stopping by!

It's so true. I become paralyzed at the thought of having to go through my stuff to pare it down. Sometimes I'll even go to the garage before it's taken away and bring it back in the house. So, good luck with that. YOu're a better person than I if you can do it. Another fun, yet relevant observation Liz. Loved it.

Your post is inspiring and it makes me want to delve into all the boxes I moved here last year and disintegrate them. It's scary though. I've failed at this before. But maybe this time... Maybe I'll start with just one box. It sounds like I'm joking, but I'm not. Keep writing these inspiring posts and maybe I'll get there. :)

Yes, it is a lot harder to practice it than it is to plan to do it. By the time I've decided what I'm going to do some days, I've worn myself out!

Hi Liz,
I see the title includes pending. I hope you're still at the current address, as I think that's where I sent some correspondence, and I don't want to get it back all marked up by the post office. I noticed on some of the comments that the person replying had a lot to say about their spouse having too much stuff. Interesting. Of course I feel the same way. I can easily justify all of my junk, I just don't know what Jan needs with all of her stuff. If she'd get rid of some of it, there would be more room for my things. Great post gal. Have a blessed day.

Elizabeth:
I am in the middle of down-sizing. I like your outline of how to approach the process. I know I think way too much about each item. I am going to try your approach next. Thanks for sharing.

Since you told me how things really are at your house :) This is truly a gift sent to someone, but not me. I like it, and you wrote it well when you did write it. Rainy and cool here. Where do you live? I hope you have a wonderful day. Shirley

How did I miss so many of your posts? I have no clue, but, again, I'm glad I caught this one. My problem is my husband. I may send him to be recycled. He is a hoarder. I want to throw it away; he wants to keep it. It's a never ending battle.

I can sure relate to this piece. I had collected two room-sized closets full of 135 suits and blazers. Yep, no exaggeration. I once wore two to three a day or 20 or so a week. All custom made with flashy linings. Then, I started to give them away, but who could wear suits made for 60-inch chests and 29-inch waists. Nobody! Thanks for sharing!

I loved the idea but I notice it is filed under "Wistful Thinking" Actually, I'd be lucky to be able to move into a 2000-cubic-foot-stuff- holder. Mine is closer to 4000 and only me lives here, mostly hanging out in the one room that still has space in for me to move around. I'm likely going to leave the divesting of all that stuff to someone else after the undertaker removes me.
