Rejection in general can crush a person. I've learned that in life and when you are validated and finally feel that sense of pride. Sometimes it's not the big, expensive gifts we need. Just the ones that people can give for free.

Thank you so much for the excellent review and kind encouraging words. Yes, this kind of rejection cuts deep. I am better now and have given my gift to do some who appreciates it.
Sending you my best today as always,

This shows how one person can deflate us and another break our spirit and yet another person will be presented to us and change our whole outlook and inspire us to heal ourselves to resume our life's creativities with even more conviction. This poem may help others to heal. Well thought out.

Yes, the power of praise or the lack thereof. It's especially painful when a gift is involved from the heart and it is rejected. This is a true story albeit painful. But as in all of life, our pains give way to joy when someone does appreciate us, and leads us into the light again.
Sending my best today as always with many thanks for your kind review,
    Sally xoxo
PS~ What The Blind Girl Saw is now available on Amazon.com in softcover print, large print, and ebook. The e-book is only $3.99. The soft cover is $9.99. If you have time, I would very much appreciate a review. It's in slow release mode right now. Just a few know about it. I plan on announcing it on FanStory by way of post soon. My husband, middle son and I published it and we designed the cover ourselves using a template. It turned out so nice, I could hardly believe my eyes! Thank you for your many kindnesses and for catching up with me all the way through the book. :)

Your poem is a wonderful encouragement to overcome wounded feelings and keep going. I love the optimism in this verse:
The day was sprayed with roses,
and wind was at my back,
I traveled up, and up, and up,
never looking back.
... and then it is dashed by someone's scorn. Encouragement and self belief, one external and one internal, go hand in hand to keep writers going.

Thank you so much, my dear Lisa May. I've tasted the best of both recently and I'm learning to walk in balance. I've had some hard hits but I also had some really good things happen to me lately. I hope you're well and I to be able to read more of your fine writing as my eyesight decline has worsened. It's to the point where I am reviewing less and less these days because I really don't see very well. It seems like on some days is all I can do just to write. Thank you so much for your kind review and encouragement. It means so much to me. Sending you my best today as always, Sally
PS ~congratulations on your recognition and honor for your writing. Way to go!!

Thanks for your nice comments Sally. I am saddened to hear of your declining eyesight. I hope the impact is less on your writing and that you can keep that up as long as possible. There will always be other reviewers but there will never be another 'you' as a writer.

Sally: beautiful poem about rejection and acceptance. I gave you
******************* for painting the thoughts of who you give your
gifts to with your words and love.

I belong to a reader's group and feel like I'm the only writer in my
community outside of the local newspaper. I so appreciate your
friendship and creativity, Sally. More stars ***************

Thank you very much for the wonderful review and generous six star rating. It means so much to me that you enjoy all of my work. I hope someday, when you have time, that you will check out my novella, as well. I just started a new one and I hope you can get in on the early chapters. I write a lot, needless to say. I always keep it clean and virtuous, too. {The Lord is my top reviewer.} I want to honor Him in all that I do, even when insulted, having a bad day or hurting. This was one of those moments. I'm so pleased if it encourages you. Thank you, again. It means so much to me.

Irfully penned poem written from the heart with such a special message. It's written so that it touches one in such a personal way. It flows so beautifully together and the artwork suits it well.

Sally,

This is such a beautifully penned poem that it touched my heart. I totally agree when you do something special for someone and it comes from the heart, to be rejected is quite painful. Thanks for the encouragement in your authors notes. I have had reviews of my work that would make one want to give up. Excellent rhyming throughout, very smooth flow and a most enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing... Blessings my dear friend.

Hugs...Portia

I'm sorry that you felt rejected. I am very careful how I critique too.

When I first started writing, I felt discouraged. But then I had an encounter with someone who knew how to critique. I try to give a positive, then the critique with an example of how to fix, and then end with a positive. That seems to help.

You did a wonderful job of writing this. I am happy you kept writing. Your work is a joy to read. Keep going!

Hi Sally, I've been there a few times when the words have been so harsh and difficult to take in. But then, again, I pulled myself up and said to myself I could do better, but I had to improve and show that I wanted to learn. And it paid off. It didn't make it easier that English is not my first language.
So yes, I can totally identify with what you're saying in your lovely poem. Warm regards. Ulla xxx

Rejection can be personal ( My mother never liked anything I ever gave her) or objective, like a rejected piece of writing. I mentored a high school girl (back before e-mail) who wanted to be a writer but wouldn't submit anything anywhere. I told her the rejection letter is proof that she tried and proof that I wasn't wasting my time. When she got her first rejection, she was so proud she wrote me a poem about how appreciative she was of me that I "kicked her butt." (She didn't use those words, but that's basically what I did ;)

People can be cruel, but we can't let one out of so many bring us down. I never see a reason to deliberately hurting someone's feelings. Even if you have something to say, it can be done in a constructive, kind way. If someone hurt your feelings, give them the raspberry. lol.

Thank you, Yvonne. Yes, humans can be cruel. But I must say, my good outweigh my bad. It is the encouraging words that mean so much.
