Goodness, Laura!
What an ordeal!
And one in which I can relate to having become incredibly ill while in Colorado last Christmas to visit with our son and daughter-in-law. But also, our son became very ill in Cancun when he was a little guy, and our daughter became ill on a trip to Hawaii. So frightening to be ill away from home...
So glad you are well now!
Well-written!

Makes one feel a tad bit tentative about traveling!

I remember "Footprints". As a child it was my favorite story. Still is, though I don't think of it as much as I should. It does sound to me like He carried you. You certainly put up with a lot of non-fun stuff during your vacation. After hearing that, now I know why some people say "the best part of any vacation is the trip home."

Jesus carried you. That was sure a comfort - to be in a foreign country and get sick like that - a nightmare - but sounds as if you were well cared for. A good story and I wonder if we wont' be hearing more of this kind of event - with that virus spreading around.
Good job.

An interesting narrative of travel and the uncertainty of what can happen to you in a foreign country. I think we really feel the anxiety and the frustration when you get sent to the hospital and you have to deal with the runaround from the insurance companies. Ah, those insurance companies! I think it would make a good short story if you can flesh out the characters, make them come to life in dialogue, orchestrate a passage throught the tensions and struggles of this journey. estory

Wow! Now that was some ordeal! So sorry you could not enjoy your beautiful vacation. Unfortunately, our immune system is not prepared for other parts of the world. People who live there have antibodies built up over time. Glad you made it home safely. Your story is very well written. xoxo

Well, thankfully it wasn't the Corona virus! Sorry that your vacation did not pan out so well and it was rough on your family members as well as they were sick with worry! Glad you guys didn't fall for the scam as sometimes such emails can be so realistic and perfectly official. I have a hard time navigating spam mails and often ask for my elder sister's help :-)

Hello lauralumummu,
Keeping in mind 'Non-Fiction, and the Title + Related Words', it's an outstanding example of Non-Fiction.
First 2-3 Paragraphs describing beauty of the place, and then the unexpected tragic part , both are marvelous from the viewpoint of phraseology, presentation, and captivating flow throughout up to the end.
Best of Luck!

This is excellent, Laura. Good writing. Clear and interesting. Medical care in third world countries is not the same as we rely on here. Frightening stuff. Then on top of that you had the scammer. I'm glad you're back safe and sound and recuperated. Marilyn

There is nothing worse than getting sick on vacation. You did a good job of describing your ordeal in Mexico. I am glad it all turned out well.

I think this is a good entry for the Non-Fiction Writing contest.
This well written story telling of a vacation gone wrong is well told.
Well done and I wish you good luck with the contest.
