Truly a Darwinian tale of determination...a horror tale, well written for the most part. I would suggest a more poetic ending detailing a mission that was more than just about survival of the species. Perhaps something about beauty and inspiration to others to mix up all the horror.

Great story. I first thought this was some sci-fi space mission. It was surely interesting, and very captivating in the telling. Love the twist that we're talking about butterflies and nature red in tooth and claw. lol.

You had me fooled almost to the end. It took a while for me to figure out they were not humans on a mission in space. It wasn't till the dragonflies showed up that I figured it out. So many ways for a butterfly to die, from getting splattered on a car windshield to getting eaten by birds or spiders.
